Connolly hide food recommended

I just used Hide Food on my Range Rover's 20 year old leather, which had never had any kind of leather treatment until then. It did a great job and I highly recommend it. There are a lot of Leatherique enthusiasts on this forum (see multiple threads and posts) but my experience with it has been no better results than with Hide Food or Lexol, and is not as convenient to use if instructions are followed (which I did).

I have used many jars with great results. I have also used a couple of gallons of Leatherique. I Since I used the leatherlique I have bought nothing else. I think it gives equal or better results and is easier to use. FYI, the Hide Food will break down into a soupy liquid if it freezes, but you can't go wrong with either one.

 

Ok... so if you only had one to choose for the rest of your life taking price and performance into account which one would you pick?

 

I know you weren't asking me, but..Hide Food, no question, regardless of cost.

I have a couple of questions about leather maintainance.

I've just cleaned my seats (only the parts that see any use, not the back for example.

I'm about to apply the Connolly Hide Food. I suppose this can be done with a clean cloth.

Now my first question: do I rub it in until it's not really visible anymore or do I just cover the seat without rubbing in? If so, should I leave it like that or should I wipe it out later?

Is it neccesary to do the parts that don't see any use, like the back?

Can I use it for the steering wheel too or does the food make it too slippery?

Any help much appreciated!

Their are better products but.
I've used it all my car life 30 plus years.
IMO apply it with your hands,rub in as much as you can.
let is soak in overnight then rub of with cloth rags ect.
Do not let it sit for a period of time ,say more then a day or so as a film will be their and its a ***** to get off.
this stuff is far better.
also IMO the best leather care products are the ones you buy at your local horse sadderly shop.

Do it with your hands with glee: pretend you are rubbing suntan lotion into say....Charlize Theron
Then after massaging it in thoroughly wipe off the excess carefully with a cloth: even more carefully for the steering wheel.
I did it with hide food for many weeks on a Miura's interior and it really brought it back very distinctly. hide food IIRC was avaialble from Rolls dealers.

Yesterday I did my interior like you said (except for thinking about Charlize Theron

I applied the hide food and rubbed it in. After a couple of hours I wiped the seats and steering wheel with a clean cloth.
After a day the seats and steering wheel still feel a bit sticky and when I sat in the driver's seat it still rubbed some of the hide food off on my clothes (not much, but still).
How long does it usually take for the hide food to not be sticky anymore? Or should I wipe it a couple of times more?

 

keep wipping it or put a sheet over the seat and drive it like that and let your body movement help polish of the balance.
