My Visa card agrees too. I paid 45 thousand for mine and got exactly what I paid for it if you know what I mean. I've had it 6 months and have about 65 into it now. My carfax looked great. Axle boots; headers; timing belt? Not so much. I have spent so much time on this forum I now feel like Andy Dufresne...tunneling through Shawshank to one day finally feel the freedom of sorting out my new1997 F 355 Spider. Picking the right 355 is like picking a wife. You never really know until you live with her for a while. If the car is missing an immaculare set of service records go to the next one.
Definitely don't settle. Buying one of these is kind of like buying an airplane, all the potential value is in the records. Even then it can still be a bit of a crapshoot. I bought mine from a dealer, and didn't do a PPI. I did, however, speak with the person who handled its services, and that was enough for me.
Same for me. I spoke with the service manager of Algar (the dealer that did the last 2 majors, one 252 miles before my purchase). He assured me the car was a great example - he did not let me down at all.
