Gents, I've got a 2004 360 and I'm considering replacing the stock cats with Hyper-Flows or another brand. In order of importance, I'm expecting a reasonable boost in midrange HP (gotta catch that Gallardo , lower engine bay temps (always a plus) and possibly a change in the tone of the stock exhaust. This is a street car that may see some light track time but mostly highways and byways. Has anybody got experience with the Hyper-Flow cats? They're the most costly but the discussion I had with them is swaying me in that direction due to custom cores and throughput approaching 440CFM (seems impressive). Kinetix Racing was another consideration at half the price(?) but I haven't spoken to them yet. Thanks, Doug 2004 360 Modena F1
Doug, Fabspeed is the way to go.. I've used hyperflow in the past.. don't have any real complaints about them, but in my opinion, the fit and finish of the fabspeed products are better and I like the fact that they have published dyno results on all their parts, so you have a better idea on where your money is being spent in terms of real HP gains and not some "it feels faster" rhetoric. I've just completed a full exhaust replacement and ECU tune with them and I'm telling you, the car is a complete animal now! You will not be disappointed! Call Jeremy at (888) 646-4945 and he will hook you up. Best, Rick
wow..Kinetix has a great price, they usually have very good build quality. I had a set of GT PRO G-Cats on mine, and vs the others, I have to say the sound was outstanding and great power output.
Is the engine bay temps really reduced with high flow cats? I saw the pics of the FabSpeed cats getting glowing orange from idling (in the thread where the owner was concerned if it was normal). Correct me if I'm wrong but don't stock cats have heat insulation while some aftermarket ones don't. Does this produce lower or higher engine bay temps? When my cats need replacement I would also consider high flow cats, but not if it compromises anything! Though, so far so good - recently passed CA smog with original cats. Jes
I just received a set of Kinetix CATS and they look great!!!! I am waiting on the Vivid Racing headers that I ordered. It may be a few months till I can do the install untill my new garage is built and the car lift is set up. I will post when all of this comes together...
I'm running Hyperflows with a Capristo # 2 and it sounds great, if maybe just a touch this side of obnoxious!! Seriously, car sounds better, is a little quicker but definitely more responsive int he throttle.
We just finished the headers on the 360. Will have product photos, dyno test, and sound video by Monday. Your headers should ship this week. Thank you for your patience. Please shoot [email protected] an email as he has been out of town on his Honeymoon and will be back Monday. Stay tuned to www.vividracing.com/blog for product release. Thanks Dan
I have the Hyper-Flow Cats and Capristo 4.3 racing on my F430. Beautiful combo... No complaints at all and it's loud. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
