How about this scenario at the end of the Brazil race: Alonso in front Raikonen or Massa in second Hamilton in third Which of the Ferrari drivers will let Hamilton through to second place to avoid that Alonso becomes champion?
You must be joking if you think your theory will happen. No Ferrari *lets* any car by, especially not for personal reasons. Last year in Brasil, Button could have let Schumacher by for the podium, but he did not. I thought that would have been very honorable to let Schumacher on the podium for his final race, just to hear his parting words. But then, it was an amazing drive even if for 4th position. And nobody needs to 'give' Schumacher anything. He is the best, and was running better than anyone on the field the day of his last race. He would have easily won the race (and the championship) had he not been plagued with problems both there and in Suzuka. Schumacher was clearly the best driver last year, and his resurgence in the second half of the season was amazing. There is no clear-cut best driver on the grid this year.
I dont like Alonso...now I dont like Hamilton Either... but what if Alonso wins, and goes with the number one on the car back to Renault? Mcliaren will have cars number 23 & 24 on the grid!!!!...now THATS worst than daylight to Ron Dennis. McLiaren is ready to do something for sure against Alonso, just not so dramatic as en engine failure...a stupid non-selective gearbox will do... he´ll be gone to Renault for sure, and McLiaren will be trapped in the last box on pitlane, and with cars number 23 and 24? -not a chance- AS FERRARI that´s the only better outcome if kimmi isnt next champ... and at some point in the race, Ferrari will try to work that out...I mean, I would ...so now I want Alonso to win if nothing is there to be done by Kimmi.
Didn't Ferrari also use those number for a few seasons? I think I remember Alesi with the 27 on his car.
I think those are traditional Ferrari numbers but I recall Mclaren choosing them at least one season.
Do you not think there are contingency plans in place? If Kimi has a failure or is somehow out of contention, then it is anybody's race. Hamilton or Alonso - who cares. Massa, of course, would like to win for the home crowd just for bragging rights. BUT, if Kimi is in front and Alonso or Hamilton is in position to finish ahead of him in the points, will Massa take him out (it will be a "racing incident", of course) or has that task been assigned to a less obvious driver (a Spyker-Ferrari perhaps), in return for which the team/driver will be handsomely rewarded for their loyalty (perhaps a break on next year's engine costs, or a promise of consideration for a future seat in a red car, maybe a test driver?). Maybe there is a Ferrari mole in the McLaren paddock who might just not put that wheel nut on properly. Maybe the grid girls will flash Fernando and cause him to exceed the pit speed limit. We shall see...
Massa, for all the rift he gets from some, is a team player and although he would dearly love to win in Brazil, he would certainly protect Kimi's run for the title: I believe he expressed this in China well enough until FA obviously got the lead. as for LH, he is turning into a political animal, and he is out for blood. Kimi, cool, will do his usual, but having LH finish >8 behind Kimi is a pipe-dream: LH will win the WDC given no cheating or DNQ/DNF if there is spoilers from the drivers, I would not expect LH, but FA: YA' he is more than capable of pulling this off. Look at his back-stab threats of emails while getting use of the info from DLRosa. FA will perhaps pull a fast one on LH...but none of the others will pull one. HOWEVER< there are other drivers on the grid, and have pulled rookie mistakes....
Well i have one theory. 1.KR 2.FM 3.RK 4.SV 5.MW FA will take LH out either in turn one or some where else on the track. ahh how nice would that be?
That would be easier to contemplate if it were not the Brazilian GP. Do you think that Massa being third instead of second makes a difference at his home race?
The Great Gilles Villenueve made the number "27" famous after taking the number from the Williams team in 1981 (after Williams and Jones won the championships in 1980).
you are wrong, you cant just pick your lucky number anymore... ...IIRC you can only choose NOT to use them on the cars (I beleive Toyota doesnt use them on the car), but they are assigned by the FIA according to the champion driver and his team, then, subsecuent numbers get assigned according to final standings on the World Constructors Championship, minus the number "13" for the bad luck jinx believed after it... ah!...and welcome back...
27 & 28 are the traditional Ferrari numbers. It wasn't until later that the title holder and team gets the numbers 1 & 2, but that is a direct swap with the two teams involved only, meaning all other drivers/teams retain their numbers regardless where they finish their season. The year McLaren/Senna/Berger used 27 & 28 was the year Prost took the 1 & 2 with him to Ferrari (1990), thus Ferrari and McLaren switched their numbers.
See!!?? I knew it!! This year is not the first time McClaren took something private and valuable from Ferrari. They have done it before!
Rijk, How've you been? Hey, this is a ridiculous question. Everybody knows Hamilton is going to DNF in Brazil
well, seems others are wondering about conspiracy now, to include the FIA and Max-baby. what a soap opera. http://www.totalf1.com/view-article.php?newsid=231900 Special treatment for Alonso in Brazil In an attempt to ensure that he has every possible chance to win the 2007 world championship crown after pledges of equality from his team seemed to fall on deaf ears, Fernando Alonso will be given extra special treatment at the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix when the FIA place a special independent scrutineer into the McLaren garage to keep a three day vigil over his MP4-22. The reigning world champion is so paranoid that the Woking based squad will favour their British rookie over him in the season finale, that the head of the Spanish Motorsport Federation contacted FIA President Max Mosley to organize the overseeing of his car, mechanics and engineers. “The FIA will have a steward making sure that nothing wrong happens to Fernando, especially in qualifying, which is where there have been more complaints or strange situations in the last few GP’s," Carlos García has been quoted as saying. If further rumour is to be believed, this will be his last race with McLaren before returning to Renault. ---------------- last note: he should be paranoid in that LH would have worn the WDC crown last week had it not been for crappy tire management. Seems LH should ask for similar special treatment. Kimi? aw' he just need an ape suit and could probably wrap this win up too Now that would be a sight I'd like to see.
I would do the same. I don't want to see either of those two win, if McLaren was punished for cheating, then the drivers may well have benefitted from the cheating as well, even if it only gave McLaren engineers the idea of what NOT to try.
