Hey guys. Was going to take out the scud to drown my sorrow over the F1 team and the car began making a constant chirping noise. It even does it when turned off. Cutting the battery switch terminates it. Quick search says it is probably a short in the siren module? Still researching. Opening/closing the doors can interrupt it. Putting in reverse will interrupt it. Just looking to confirm the failure and also ask if it is possible to bypass somehow so I can drive the car before I get a new part?

    What a bummer...TIA.

I don't know if it's possible to disconnect the siren without pulling the frunk liner/vapour barrier to pieces. Can you access the connector via the panel in front of the windshield?

Do this with the immobiliser disabled and the battery off.

It looks like I can disconnect it via the access panel for the brake fluid reservoir. I would just have to undo the reservoir bolts and ease it to the left. Siren is below and to the right.

Or I could remove the moisture barrier and replace, but have never done that and prefer not to...or should I not be a total bush?

In true, crazy-Italian-woman-style it has now stopped chirping for no apparent reason. Although I have not test driven it yet. It started 5 mins into a drive. I took a number of troubleshooting steps, but did not believe any had solved them last I left the garage. Maybe it took a deep sleep? Does this car have that concept as with some other makes? I tried: 1. cycling power via cutoff in frunk; 2. locking and unlocking with physical key; 3. setting off alarm (siren did sound); 4. checking both door handles for proper function inside and out; 5. swearing; 6. praying.

Another data point - the chirps do not work properly on the lock and unlock sequence via remote. I read on some 360's that this is also an indicator that the siren has gone bad.

As an added bonus, I got to find out that the last tech to work on the brake fluid reservoir barely tightened the cap and it had leaked into the catch of the reservoir and would have probably overflowed with more miles.

I wish someone would touch me that gently...

New garage/lift is built now, so brakes will be done exclusively by me now. Thank God.

Battery off no problem. How does one disable the immobiliser?

Disregard... I was thinking of the 360. I meant disable the Alarm so that disabling the battery doesn't trigger it.

I'm assuming the vapour barrier/frunk lining has to be removed at some point anyway to remove the siren? The top access for the plug (if possible) was only a temporary measure.

Are you sure it's from the siren? Not the cluster?

I believe the chirp is coming from the cabin speaker. But it is to alert you that the integrated battery is dead in the alarm siren.

    Or I'm crazy. Or both.

Depends. I'm pretty sure I can get it out from the top. I just did a bunch of work in the V of my M3, so this is not even making me sweat. LOL

Honestly though - reservoir should move. There are 2 hoses on the bottom and 2 nuts on studs to release it. One hose has a good amount of slack, just not sure about the other one.

I'm planning to order a new siren on Tuesday from Ricambi, as well as a new barrier if still offered.

Sounds like the issue many are having coming from the cluster/cabin

Oh I should also mention I had the car sitting for a bit due to construction. I hooked up the tender just in case, but it read 12.3 when I first plugged it in, so I don't think it is main car battery related.

Found it: 2007 F430 beeping sound from instrument cluster | FerrariChat

Well that would certainly blow if it's the instrument cluster and the repair is to the tune of 4k...

If it comes back, I will try to isolate it. But based on the troubleshooting I did with Reverse, etc, this does sound like a closer match unfortunately. Thanks ADA///M.

I have the same issue. Comes and goes. Usually when the voltage drops even a little bit. Its beyond annoying.

Did you listen to the video above? That's the noise I assume? Any other threads with the noise all had stale links to recording of the problem.

I'm going to give FAI a call on Tuesday and see what they say.

Took it for a drive and the good news is that my exhaust is so loud that you can't really hear anything anyway as long as you stay on it ;P

The bad news is that it did it intermittently. It seemed more related to rolling up to lights and stop signs once warm. I ordered a little in cabin voltmeter to see what the battery is putting out to see how it correlated to the noise.

I'll be curious to see what FAI has to say about the nature of the failure.
