Not an owner of any exotic here, so my 2 cents are not worth anything, but I kind of agree with you, I would prefer to blend in while enjoying one of those cars at the same time. Just enjoy your cars

I think, it is one thing one must get used to when owning and operating these cars. Living where I do in Florida [Orlando area} it is amazing how many people turn their heads when I drive by. I thought for many years it was just the tourists that were looking, as they might not have a lot, if any, exotic cars where they live. However, most everyone looks at these cars when they pass by. For some it is a religeous experience. For others, it may be the first time they have seen a car they have only seen in magazines.
So, this is the way I feel. I am glad to make someones day a little better because they finally got a chance to see the car of their dreams in person. If you want to have people not look at you, I suggest you drive only from one to five in the morning or wear a mask but, if you want to make someone happy roll down your window, rev it up a little bit, give them a thumbs up and watch them smile.
Have a great day and be thankful we are allowed to own and play with these great cars.

A Countach or a Diablo is an order of magnitude more of an attention getter than any Ferrari (a pretty big people magnet). I don't know of any way to deflect attention, be sure to watch your blind spots.

I once had to pick up a customer's Diablo Roadster around midnight (his choice of times, not mine). It was nearly out of gas and I had to stop at a 24 hour gas station in "the hood". Needless to say it was a scary situation being in the "bad neighborhood" with my girlfriend, driving someone else's Lamborghini. It turned out fine though. A lot of the "brothers" came to check it out, asked a few questions, "click, click, click" from the cellphone cameras and we were on our way. Whew! There were two squad cars just down the street with the lights on, not sure if that was a good thing or not. ;)

April Fools right?! If you want anonymity, buy a Ford Taurus! You should be happy that all those heads turning your way all had the day made better because of your car. The vast majority will immediately have to tell someone, ANYONE about the Lamborghini they just saw and how cool it was. My 10 year old son has a website dedicated to pictures he takes standing next to exotics. Those are the future car enthusiasts and you should feel blessed that you are able to bring that to people and not consider it a "downer".

I always get a kick out of F-Chatters who buy the flashiest cars on earth and then
complain about the attention. And I will admit that I've felt that way from time to time
in my 328 - where I'm just trying to get somewhere. Most of the time, though I
know folks are looking and don't mind it.

It just comes with the territory - and I'll bet lunch that if we were all really honest
with ourselves, the vast majority of us secretly enjoy knowing heads are turning every time you're out in
your car. I just turn it around and realize the folks turning their heads very likely have never
seen a Lambo, Ferrari, Lotus, etc. in their entire lives.

    Drive safe,

    Jedi

I don't mind the people staring but what annoys me the most is when people come up and ask ignorant things like, how much did you pay for it, burn those tires out, I'll give you $5 bucks for your car and other idiotic questions. Each of the idiots that ask the question think they are being original and funny and when in fact they confirm how stupid they are. People who give attention to the car and ask permission to look at it or ask questions politely get to look over the car, engine and chat...those are the people I like.

We all get these questions but, just take it with a grain of salt. Most people who ask these questions are really over whelmed by the car just being there and really have no intellegent thoughts as to what to say. They just want to say something and quite honestly it is a complement to you and your car. It's not a big thing to you but, it is to them. make someone happy.

Give me a break. When you buy a Lamborghini, it's all about having a loud, showy car that attracts attention. Ninety percent of these things must be yellow or orange and have huge wings on the back, chromed wheels, etc.

If you want fast and discreet, you would have bought a silver 997 Turbo: more speed, more performance, less flash. Or a Ferrari 599 -- basically an invisible exotic styled like a normal car but with huge power.

I personally love Diablos, but I sure as hell wouldn't buy a yellow one and sob about all the attention it gets.

I drive my car in Glasgow Scotland. Not a lot of lambos around up here. I have 7 other cars all of which are pretty or unusual. Nothing gets attention like the QV, which is white on white! It is like driving a fairground attraction!
I took the car into the west end of Glasgow yesterday to have coffee with one daughter who was already there taking another with me. Not being into cars they said, 'it is strange when people DONT look at the car'!! I feel safe leaving the car parked on the street and going off.
Like the last poster, i give plenty of time to people who ask politley or are curious about the car. These cars are very rare here! Luckily I have very little negative feedback about the car and other drivers are usually more polite and accomodating than with 'normal' cars.
With respect to the OP, i think if you don't want attention, then don't drive a lambo! I uinderstnad the point he makes though. Some of my friends refuse to go in the car as the find it embarassing.
    Sorry can't be sympathetic here!

I agree with the original poster, I don't drive mine for the attention at all, just want to enjoy it in peace. I think the generation has something to do with it, at 55 your motivations are not the same, such as picking up chicks. Ha!.

Attention, attention, and more attention. That is just what my Countach gets when I take it out in the Metro area. Heads turn, cameras flash, and people do crazy things just to get close to the car to see what, until now, they have only read about and seen pictures of. Ahhhh, my ego soars until I enter into the reality check zone. They don't give a damn about me, they just want to see an automotive legend.

I could be the world famous Hunchback of Notre Dame (whom I do somewhat resemble), and they could care less. They want to see the car, not me. So, in reality, I doubt if one or two percent of the gawkers could ever identify me in a police lineup. That tells me I still have my privacy while out for a wonderful cruise, as no one has seen me. And they all got their thrill seeing a car they never saw in the flesh before.

Also, Paul328 stated something which I have also experienced. "other drivers are usually more polite and accomodating than with 'normal' cars". The visibility of the road from inside the Countach is virtually non-existant except for straight forward, straight rearward, and out the side windows. Changing lanes in heavy traffic will definately get your adrenaline pumping. But, turning on your turn signal, a quick burst of the throttle to get your backside ahead of the car pacing your quarter panel, and almost anyone will back of and give you room to swing over. Try that in any other consumer type vehicle and they will speed up to cut you off.

When I go out, there definately is a lot of attention. I recieve very, very little. The car gets it all, just as it should be!!!!

PS I am also over 55 (58 till September) and I just plain like people and cars. I don't think age is really a factor in this situation, as this age group probably comprises the biggest number of automotive fans ever. Coming through the horsepower wars of the 50's and 60's, to the present awesome collection of mechanical and electronic marvels, no one has seen more technical advances than we have! That is, except for my father and his friends!!! 91 plus - 1919 to date - and he absolutly loves riding in the Countach.

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

Thanks for your kind words Pm's Allen... :)

Blend in? You'll never do that driving a Lamborghini.

...you're taking it way too seriously. People say dumb things all the time...go by their gestures. Are they being mean? ...or are they kinda "starstruck" and don't know what to say.

I had one guy say I'll give you $20K for it...I said, that's a clutch job for the Lambo and a tune-up for my Ferrari...

    ....we all laughed.

Most people buy a car that suits their personality. I drive a Lamborghini because I'm an outgoing guy and used to getting attention....slick back hair and a pony tail....dressed like Sonny Crockett....ya think? :D

If you're going to drive one of the most over the top cars on the planet, you have to expect some attention. Frankly I was surprised how much of an effect the Lamborghini has on people. I already drive a Ferrari Testarossa and that's pretty much out there....so I though...maybe a "little" more attention.....ah...no way....turn the volume to 11 !

Oh yeah....hot chicks....um...hot young chicks really go nuts over the car.

....but you knew I was going to say that. :)

Come out of a VT Roadster with the top down.....you might as well say " take me to your leader earthling"

or at least....hey pretty girl....I like your shoes.

Come on guys, this the fun of driving a car like this....life is all about having some fun....driving a Lamborghini qualifies !

    When you drive a Lamborghini....this happens !!!

I don't mind the attention since it gives me a chance to let people know about the cars. I love saying, "come on over, would you like to see the engine? Do you know anything about the car? What would you like to know? Sit in the driver seat and let me get take your picture, give me your phone camera." People enjoy it and it lets them know that all exotic car owners are not just stuck up snobs. BTW: I'm 58. I love sharing these cars with others. Seldom has anyone ever been a jerk. Most are really excited and can't stop telling me thanks. Enjoy them, they draw attention, it's what they do!

I've had several Countachs and Diablos over the years and have gotten all of those reactions. I thought the funniest was from a Ferrari owner. I had my Diablo SV stopped at a closed car dealership on a Sunday and was out of the car looking into the dealership window. A guy in a 348 pulled up, got out of his car, and walked quickly over to the side of my car, all the while saying nothing. He looked at the Diablo, then at me, then at the Diablo again, then at me and then screamed "WOW!!!!". I was a little embarrassed -- I mean, he had pulled up in a Ferrari. I said, "Well, you have a nice car too.." He looked at the Diablo and then back at me and again said "WOW!!!". That was basically the extent of our conversation. :)

I'm fine with it until people follow you home. There are boundaries that need to be respected. I've had people walk up my driveway and into my garage! I own a jewelry store so when people follow me home I get real nervous. That and I've had people ask me at the gas station for money with the line "come on you can afford it". With situations like that it gets real old real fast.

I cant' believe people actually complain about this...you have bought one of the most beautiful/stand out car's of ALL TIME and then complain about people looking at you/it...are you serious? get a porsche turbo if you don't want people to look...like seriously some of you must be really unhappy people to have nothing better to do then complain about "people look at me in my lambo(s) and i don't like it".

    Give me a break....

And although I do not own one personally, I have been driving these car's since I was 17 year's old(even f40's,959's,XJ220's etc.,) and know the attention you guy's are refering to....the ONLY time I dont' like it is when some jacka ss drives a little too close or speeds up or slows down to drive beside me....but driving one of the most beautiful cars of ALL TIME and complaining about it is a little sad.

Nice collection. I really don't notice the attention anymore unless someone does something really over the top. I just stay focused on the car and the road and avoid eye contact. As for the questions about the car, I really don't mind those except the one about why the doors on my Lambo don't flip up.

Maybe its not its all the flash that gets people - its just the fact that you're driving something different and people really notice that. Most folks don't realize how conformist they are until you show them.

I tried an experiment last year and drove a 30 Model A Ford every day to work, or at least as often it was running. It was barn fresh and I got stopped everywhere I went with questions. A lot of thumbs up, etc, even though it was a total beater with indian blankets for seatcovers and a leaky roof. But honestly I got tired of answering the same questions all the time, and found myself trying to drive at different times and in different areas so I could be left alone. I'm not a really social person I guess and welcome some attention, but the 'celebrity' thing can get tiring.

BTW, here's the only Model A ever to be on fchat ;)

And Shamile, the girls do not drop their drawers for cars like this!
