Apparently they had a flat tire moving the plane to JFK (for that TWA Hotel) from Maine:

    https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/lockheed-constellation-airliner-twa-hotel/index.html

That plane (N8083H) is one of three L1649A Starliners bought by Lufthansa a little over a decade ago and was used as spares to restore N7136C. That restoration was unfortunately canceled 6 months ago. They also bought N974R in 2007 that I saw frequently driving to Tampa next to I-4. It is still on display at Fantasy of Flight and FoF now owns that as of 2011.

So sad...I really wish more of these continued to fly. Anyone know what will happened to the Lufthansa plane now that the project is canceled?

Not sure if it's the same one, but there is a Lufty one parked outside Munich airport. You can go inside and have a look, it's pretty neat.

Nah, that is a different one: http://www.conniesurvivors.com/F-BHML.htm

Thanks for the heads up as now I have another reason to visit Munich. BMW + finally getting to see the inside of one of those. I've only seen them from the outside.

I flew on one like that, TWA, as a kid, from Albuquerque to Chicago (Midway) about 1961.

I thought that the project was going to continue, but in Germany.

Here is N974R at Fantasy of Flight when I saw her in 2005:

They decided in March to move it to Hamburg where some parts were already shipped years prior for restoration, but I think the majority of the plane is still in Maine and hasn't moved. Does anyone have info on that? They also decided at that time it would not provide commercial flights...which would've been cool.

iirc Kermit has said recently via YouTube that there is too much corrosion to get this one airworthy again his plan is to turn it into a reataurant at FoF 3.0

Interestingly, the FoF plane was the German equivalent of 'Air Force One'

Considering how they screwed the folks in Maine who were working so hard to get that airplane flyable, I'd suggest that everyone boycott Lufthansa!
