Tough week for restaurant reservations with the UN in town. Counted more than 10 limos just for the Republic of the Congo parked along Park Avenue today.

What a boondoggle and a waste of money!

I know, total gridlock, was thinking about all the gas being wasted by all the cars sitting idling in traffic going knowwhere. all the costs for the NYPD and homeland security.. the UN should move to a third world country that really needs all the investment and spending that the UN brings. midtown manhattan is just crazy for that, one day OK but a whole work week! I think we are beter off with a street fair or a parade.

I was listening to 1010wins this morning as they rattled off all the street block closures. I couldn't keep track of what was open vs. what was closed. And then there is the peace march. This is where Noto's scooter is a god send.

...Can you believe some people thought it would be a good idea to host the Olympics here? Can you imagine how bad that would have been?? Would have made UN week look like a leisurly Sunday drive...

But I digress.... Yep. UN week is tough on traffic.

Doesn't the UN pay for the extra police and security? I know, I know, even if they do, we (the U.S. that is) still pay for a big part of that through our funding of the UN anyway.

How about moving the UN to the Freedom Tower? Since no one wants to be in it because of fears about another attack, the UN would be perfect there. Even al Qaida would hesitate to bomb the UN with its high proportion of non-industrialized and non-Western countries represented inside.

Or they could move the UN to Newark.

The attendance of UN delegates if it was held in a third world country would be close to zero and could be held in a broom closet. They love to come to NYC for the partying and fine dining. The restaurants, hotels, limo services and, of course, the strip clubs, absolutely love having the UN in town!
