can anyone suggest a name at FNA that I could call regarding replacement of the hydraulic actuator on my F430 2005/8600 miles. The unit cost approximately $11,000. I had a 4 yr. warranty on the car and fell that a componet like this should not fail on a 5 yr old car. Appreciate it. van

I feel ur pain man. My 06 had it replace not once, but two times under warranty. Sometimes u get lucky and have a solid unit, sometimes u don't. Wish you the best outcome.

IMO the thing to do is to let your dealer handle the situation....

FNA already KNOWS they cost big bucks, and break all the time.

Unfortunately that is what extended warranties are for...

    Never hurts to ask.

To support what the others have said, calling FNA will be useless. The dealer needs to handle it, but if you aren't in warranty now, your chances are slim-to none that they will even try since it will start a negative $ countdown on how much it will cost them to do the work for you. If you bought the car from the dealer and have been a good and consistent customer you chances are better, but that's the dealer rewarding your loyalty, not FNA.

Even if you are lucky enough to get a dialog going with FNA, you will have to prove that the vehicle has spent it's entire life in the dealer network and is spot on with everything that it ever should have had done when Ferrari specified it. In warranty and out. I've had to do this many times.

Even then you're probably going to be told TS.

I would ask the dealer if you could purchase an extended warranty retroactively from the time your warranty expired through the next warranty period and ask if that might help the situation. The dealer might have to determine if the car is eligable for warranty coverage.

I've seen that done before on other products all be it not Ferrari.

But I would appropch the dealer in a nice, business like manner.

    Might be worth a shot.

I'd try to get one from a wrecked car and have an independent install if you continue to run into walls.

Ah, F1 problem. Good luck. $11k is pretty steep.

Guys on the Maserati boards are saying the actuators can be removed and rebuilt.

Someone in the UK rebuilds them for the Gransports for Under $600.00.

There is also been some discussion on a fluid spec that changed?

i want a GranSport or Granturismo, so i have been doing alot of reading in different places.

I work for Gulfstream Aerospace. No way a "car" actuator should cost that much to remove and rebuild.

    Good luck to you.

carreaper beat me to it......seen posts here about a place in the US that rebuilds them for 360's for $2K.

My suggestion is search the 360 and technical sections of the forum.

Contacting FNA is going to be useless. unless your attorney contacts them. Ferrari do not want to hear about "old" cars out of warranty... their focus is on the next car they can sell sad but true.

    Best of luck!

I wish you the best of luck. If you find sombody that can rebuild these units, PLEASE post the contact info. 11k is just plain highway robbery.

I have sent a few back to the dealer to be done under warrenty..so far no poroblems, but the cars are getting older and many issues are popping up..and they are expensive ones.

Love that damn car, but geez it may be turning into the next 355 as far as stupid under engineered parts go. To bad. Its is a wonderful car.

May the wallet be with you...
