I would love to go to this, if my schedule ever lets up... :).

What kind of tech inspection is required? I am a total track newbie. Is there someone at the event that looks your car over? Am I expected to take it to LFSC/Continental to get it looked over? etc.

Also, I have my 8 year old motorcycle helmets all over the house. Is this adequate? Do I need a brand new helmet to participate?

    Thanks!

I am hoping to go as well. I am not a particular track expert(only one event), but there is a minimal inspection by a mechanic. More to make sure you are not leaking anything and check lug nuts. Continental should have someone there to do that.

As far as helmet I am pretty sure you will need Snell 2000 or newer certified. I have a 2000, but there is a 2005. It must also be a SA (special aplication) which is designated for auto racing. It is a little different than a motorcycle helmet in that it has a nomex lining, kevlar strap, and thicker face shield.

You might call Continental to confirm, but I bet your old motorcycle helmet will not work.

I attended a track day last year with my motorcycle helmet and it was fine...this may not be the case this year. I do plan on going to Continentals event, probably in my M3 though...

I would check with Continental on the helmet requirements. At the LFSC track day 2 years ago they were requiring the snell 95 SA or newer.

Dan, hopefully I'll see you out there.
