Ive noticed how on a 308 or boxer that some attempt was made to smooth the undersde of the car for better air control under the car and todays ferraris take it to a new level. Today I was working on a lotus esprit twin turbo and I was surprised at the design error I think they made. Unlike a ferrari that has hood mounted outlets for the rad air to exit, lotus decided to lean the rads back on a 45 degree angle, place fans on the back side and dump the air under the front of the car ahead of the front wheels. To me, the little chin spoiler on the front is a waste becase all of the air entering the grill to cool the engine gets dirrected under the car which must cause lift. How could they screw that up? Am I missing something or are these cars just big turds? The sound like a turd anyway.

I generally hate to make fun of any car, somebody loves all of them. But.....

I make an exception where Lotus is concerned. I was shop foreman at a Ferrari dealer that also sold Lotus. I was constantly appalled at how bad the engineering , components, materials and build quality was. The cars are junk.

I have far more Esprit stories than I can ever tell but we did have a name for Lotus. Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious.
