    Hi All,
So I removed the light, wiper, and turn signal stalk from the hub of my 83 QV for some repairs. I am finding reinstall to be quite difficult due to the spring and ball in the end of each stalk.
If anyone has any tips on the reinstall of the stalks I would appreciate it.
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Jeff

If you have the right spring and the right ball, the end of the stalk should simply slip right over them, you may have to slightly depress the ball to get it started, but it's not a difficult thing to do, I think you may have some incorrect parts or missing parts.

I seem to remember a thread here that dealt with getting the proper size spring and ball as a replacement since the owners originals were missing, see if you can search for it.

I think they ended up using a ballpoint pen spring and a ball the size of a BB.

Also, it's good advice to do this operation with the end of the stalk in a plastic bag. So if the ball and or spring come flying out you won't lose them.

Its much easier if the entire switch is on the bench. I have never even considered disassembling it while installed.

Like Brian said I would definitely do that on the bench not in situ. I thought you were just talking about getting the ends of the stalks back on.

I use safety wire but zip tie would work quite well too. Install stalk then cut and remove the ties.
