following on somewhat from my quest to upgrade the brakes on a 360 i was wondering if anyone has changed out their 5 stud hubs to run centerlock wheels instead as per the 430?

im about to put on a set of CCMs from a 430 onto my car and had originally been planning on getting new rotor hats machined to allow this to work in the same way as everyone else who has done this swap has done.
since i need to run larger wheels to allow these to fit and 430 stuff can be picked up used fairly reasonably it got me thinking whether it would be straightforward enough to just swap the hubs across and run the 430 single center nut wheels. this would also save me machining new rotor hats.

it seems the wheel carriers on both cars are similar enough that the actual hub fitment will work (street 360 and 430 run the same wheels carriers). it would just be a case of unbolting the 4 bolts in the back of the carrier and removing the entire hub bearing and hub assembly, then fitting in the hub bearing and hub from the 430 in its place. obviously without trying this i cant be sure but from a quick look over it seems sound enough.

the big question remains over the electronics side of it. with the wheel speed sensors being part of the hub bearing im unsure whether there will be issues here. assuming both use bosch 5.2 as their base then i cant see there being much of an issue but im pretty much in the dark on this side of it.

if anyone has done this and can share any thoughts, or if anyone works on these cars alot and can share any thoughts it would be great to hear them.

I heard that it doesn't work for the exact reason you described. The ABS wheel sensors are different.

Only way to understand this would be to get readings from a 360 and a 430 Center lock hub and create some 'electronic translation' box of tricks which adjust to the range that the ecu is expecting.

Good luck and keep trying as I would love to fit 430 Center locks on my car!!!

it can be done. We had a 430 CH smash a carbon disc at Clipsal 2 years ago, we took in a 360 CH and the mechanics unbolted the entire front end (as its the same as a 430ch) and bolt it on the 430. The same could be done in reverse with a 430 front end bolted onto a 360 front end.......as it was in race conditions the ABS wasnt a consideration....the car ran well considering carcon rears and steel front brakes

thats interesting, thanks for the info.

my own thinking was that the ABS/ASR systems are bosch designed (and as far as i can tell both 5.2) and therefor the feed to them should be the same no matter the actual hub design or part number.
the problem with theory is that it often doesnt hold up in practice hence the question on here.

it really would be great to be able to just switch over everything and run the 19" centerlocks and hubs along with the CCM brake setup but i also dont want to waste a few days changing everything over just for it all to mess up or point blank not work and for me to have to take it off and start again, not to mention having wasted money picking up parts that are now no use to me.
going regular 5 stud wheels and machining rotor bells is a safe option as i know it works but long term, using the centerlocks would be better.

trev, this is actually for a 360 challenge (though i may try it on my road car too if i end up taking a stab at it and it flys). ive got a 360 challenge and a 997 cup that i track with.
