Anyone changed their electric seats to manual? Can you just unbolt the seat rails and change to a manual model?

Actually I want to know this as well, so if you have a spider:

    - can you simply change the tracks?

    - are the manual (berlinetta) tracks a direct swap?

    - do the seat bottoms use the same bolt pattern?

I assume you are doing a seat swap to some manual versions that are much lighter. ;)

Tired of worrying if I can move my seat and it will move back.

Parked the car with Valet and they moved the seat all the way back and I could not get it to move forward. Rather not deal with the frustration and stress and go manual on the driver side, but weight loss is another plus! Happy to move the top up/down via the over-ride switch or hard-wire to existing switch later.

So sounds like if I purchase a set of manual rails it is a simple bolt on exchange?

Well, I have a set of seats on the way to me, they are manual seats out of a berlinetta without the tracks, my hope is that I will be able to bolt my electric tracks to the seats and go -

(if this is the case then you can also bolt manual tracks to the spider seats, wether the manual tracks will bolt to the spider floor is another issue)

    - if not, I will have 2 options:

    - adapt the spider power tracks to the new seats

    - get a set of manual tracks and hope they bolt to my floor...

I will update when I get them, unless someone else can chime in here.

If you do change to manual seats, you will either have to set the potentiometers to the requisite impedance (I think it was 4.4ohms?) or simply replace them with an appropriate resistor.

This is easy to do. Sparco, Harbar USA and others make seat rails for all the aftermarket seats and sliders too. You can go cheap and modify a generic summit racing slider for 25 bucks. Best thing is dropping 75lbs out of the car with light one piece firberglass racing shells or almost 100lbs in carbon/kevlar. Weight is horsepower. Get all you can!

While I said "YES" to the question about converting electric powered seats to manual I want to qualify something since the electric seats only came on spider models.

This is a fairly no brainer conversion....no rocket science involved. However, the design of the spider seat is rather unique in the fact that the seat is heavily reinforced because the seatbelts are attached to the seat and not directly to the chassis as in a GTB/GTS.

Therein lies the problem with doing a seat swap in a spider.....you cannot do this lightweight seat swap without alot of mods to retain any kind of safety, and when you do get the required safety aspect back you got a problem with the spider top going down.

Think this thru completely before you jump...

As I had already posted elsewhere, I managed to retractt he roof with the seatbacks just flipped forward, this gives me hope that my recaros will fit without issue.

As far as the seatbelt issue, it looks like the spider seat features a metal plate that the rewinder is anchored to, this may be able to be transplanted or I can fabricate a new one.

The seatbelt will go throught the hole in the seatback for the shoulder belt.

If there are one item tha detracts from the "quality" of the spider, I find it is the seats, they just seem to be lower quality than what I would expect.
