Have had this 97 F355 for almost 8 years. During that time I have only put the top down 4-5 times. The top retracts back OK to where it is to "unhinge" from the support pins and start making the downward motion. The passenger side releases and is OK but the driver's side will not leave the pin. When it gets to that point it is skewed.

    Any suggestions.

Once I got into, it even my limited capability on a Sunday or any other day, I was able to isolate this one. The pneumatic cylinder on the driver side is weak on the downstroke but strong up the upstroke. Probably a bad cylinder. It does work some but not sufficient to disengage the hinge.

Have to figure out how to remove the panel over the assembly to replace the cylinder.

Check the fluid level first. Search for the relevant threads. Top it up, and bleed before bothering with replacement.

It's pneumatic. Maybe a loose fitting but nothing to top off.

I give up with this one...he already knows it all! ;) (pnuematic would be a first, since every other car manufacture that I am aware of uses hydraulics for automatic operation)

It is very possible the reservoir is low on fluid, which would prevent the rams from operating correctly. Run it that way, and you will permanently damage the rams, if they aren't already. Follow the instructions provided above, and please report back. Good luck!
