    Hey Group,

I have a 1/2 inch tear in my convertible top. It was repaired very nicely with stitching. HOWEVER, it's not waterproof....leaks like a sieve. I don't intend to drive the car in the rain, but want a somewhat functional top if I ever get caught. Any advice on some material to make the tear more waterproof?

I've heard about a product called Stormsure adhesive.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I put black duct tape on my top and stitched the perimeter. Usually a tear means the top is dry rotted and needs replacement which is what I ended up doing.

Could you glue a patch to the inside of the roof where it can't be seen...

You can try to soak the stiching with the spray motorbikers are using to make their jacket waterproof...

I think Bell's suggestion is the best in combination with Johan's comment, but having had multiple cabs I suggest that you do the whole top with waterproof stuff instead of a single spot. Else that place always stays clean compared with the rest.

Thanks all! Will go with Bell and Johan's suggestions. I'll take pics and post when done.

Try dabbing a bit of tent seam sealer on the tear and needle holes from the inside. Cad tire would have it in the camping supply area, its a water based urethane glue in a tube. But first get 303 Aerospace fabric guard protectant and reproof the whole roof. Very watery, i just brush it on to avoid getting on the glass or paint after vacuuming any dust on the fabric before applying. Makes the roof look great, reinstates the waterproofing of the fabric which will otherwise soak up some water, no downside for me and my original roof. Might also waterproof your repair area sufficiently that you are done and don't need the seam sealer.
