Has anyone here in the US done this with a smog exempt vehicle? It seems to me there would be at least a little benefit, in getting rid of dual disributors. Can someone with experience post some more detail like: Cost? How difficult? Advantages? Disadvantages?
The Euro distrib and points costs more...cap is harder to find..... I have seen an early 'glass GTB with the mod', though.....
I bought a single distributor, new, from Dennis McCann for < 700USD. I still need to buy the coupling to cam shaft, my car has the big drive dog (with fiber plate). This winter I will be doing: 1. Remove cam, plug ends as per tech bulletin. 2. install new coupling on front most cam. 3. install 2 triggers in the new distro and install on car 4. valve adjustments, etc. with new gaskets, shims, cam seals... it will add up. But I will have a brand new distro with no advance curve issues. The cap will outlive me, I might even try points for a while. Ok, maybe not that but it could last a few years before I need to do anything to them. Gerrit http://dino308gt4.com
Amen to that Bro!!! I can't wait to get my drive on this summer!!! Cheers! DT ___________________________________________________________ There is nothing like a Ferrari, there never has been and never will be!
I mean, are you talking engine mods, all the way to a dry sump?? Or are you just trying to pull the bumpers back in or change the grill? Say more of your intent.....it's always best the "stay stock" and tune it, IMO......
BigTex, Just the ignition. Although now that you mention it; I'm also curious about how to do the bumper mod's on a US car. I have the picnic table rear bumper that I'm planning on replacing at some point, which shouldn't be too difficult. But I understand there is a procedure to push the bumpers in an inch and a half (or so) to make them look a little better. Marenkie (yellow GT4) told me briefly, how he did his: 1) Drill a hole in the body of each bumper strut 2) Push the bumper in to the desired position, letting the oil inside drain out 3) Screw in a couple of tap-screws to seal the hole Has anyone else done this with theirs? And do you know where on the strut you should drill the hole? What size? What screws? etc.? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah-ha! BigTex, I just read another thread about changing bumpers. It was when Birdman was drooling over that blue GT4 with the big bumpers. In fact, I have those exact same bumpers! Except my rear one is falling apart. That one on the blue car looks new by comparison. Where would you get one of the Eruo repro's for the rear?
Me? Drool?? OK, I have been known to do that. I admit it...I want a GT4. One more Fcar on the property and my wife will kill me though. I'm completely out of garage space too. Birdman
There's a guy in AZ that does repro parts...cannot recall the name but do a search here.....maybe under "288GTO" replicas...he does complete body kits..
