    Hey guys,
I got a free Napster Download card, and I downloaded my free 15 songs. When trying to put those songs into Itunes, it wouldnt let me saying that the songs were secure, or a WMA protected. Is there anything I can do to convert them before hand? Any advice? Thanks,

    David

I have bad news for you.

I had a free Wal-Mart music download at one point in time, so I figured what the heck and downloaded it, only to find it was in WMA. My collection was mp3's, so I searched low and high online to find a way to convert it. It's not efficient at all, but here is the only way that I have heard of that works:

Burn all of your WMA's onto a CD using software that will convert them to WAV files(or cda's), and then re-rip them to mp3's from your newly burnt CD. Somehow this strips the WMA protection entirely which is... great. Except for the new CD you just wasted that you have no use for!

    Hope this helps.

I normally use dbPowerAmp, however, even with the "wma" codec, it wasn't able to do it for me. It will only convert non-protected WMA files. Any Napster file is surely protected and has its own hash/key. Burn those babies!
