A few really rare cool aircraft. Mainly Marin and Convair prototypes. The Maryland M-167 was rare, made mainly for the French. The Convair XF2Y-1 Delta Jet still survives. I saw a recent photo of it at a Navy base museum on the east coast. I think the US military was cranking out a new prototype every other week back in the 1940's and 1950's.

My pop flew the Martin Marauder before the P-38…he loved the marauder but did call it a handful.

That Delta jet on waterskis was the basis for a cheapo comic-book series back in the day........I still remember reading those as a chile..........

Yesterday on day 2 of a 2.5week camping roadtrip we stumbled on Charles B Hall air park outside Oklahoma City at Tinker AFB. Amazing collection of iconic planes built or serviced at the Douglas assembly building. Stratojet, Statofortress, B1B, Thunderchief etc. B29 looked small next to the B52.

Those have been really well prepared for a life in the elements. Too often airplanes on sticks around the country are in really bad shape.

agreed. I saw an F4 outside a VFW near Olean NY that looked so decrepit it made me sad.
These all had intakes, exhausts and wheel wells blanked off and must be washed regularly.
Tires have seen better days but most could be spun around, like the B1’s below.

Ooooff........ what a landing this must have been.

7-28-2024 image taken at Wawa, Ontario, airport. Rascal was still sitting on the end of the runway, to the side.

Assuming.......... that a party of fishermen flew N to a float or boat-in fishing trip. Arrived and ?????????????

I certainly don't know much about aviation (other than airplanes are COOL COOL COOL (and expensive)), but tell me what this bird needs to have done to get airborne and outta this little field?
Two new wheels fitted with tires flown in, and someone with the knowledge and tools (i.e. jacks, etc) to mount and certify it for further travel? What kind of money needed to address this?
Gonna be some expen$ive Walleyes! :)

Bob will like these. Found being thrown out and saved by Graham Simons. These are company photos someone decided to toss.

Threw in a Douglas shot and a few shots of the beautiful Court Line L1011 during production and painting. It was very early in production of the L1011. Court line also had a pink L1011. They went out of business shortly after receiving the L1011's.

I remember those days. Everybody was dressed nicely and the flight attendants (stewardesses then) were young and pretty.

Never saw a pink X15 before. A special coating that was later covered with white sealant. If this was today the government would also put a rainbow on the tail:rolleyes:.

B-25 Mitchell owned by the Yankee Air Force (out of KYIP) flew over today. No photo, sorry. They sold their B17 recently. . . we'll miss seeing it.

And no kid kicking the back of your seat. You could jump out of a car at the front of the terminal, run to the gate and be on the plane buckled in in 3 minutes.
