My uncle used to fly the Super Connie for Linea Aeropostal Venezolana (LAV). Routes included Rome - Lima - Caracas - Rome. He loved the aircraft!
    Best regards,

Still spooks me thinking about those guys flying off carriers, flying over the open Pacific Ocean with aircraft of questionable reliability and rudimentary navigation aids.

I have flown both those F-111Ds in the foreground at Cannon AFB (CC). Pretty much all beer cans by now.

A high school buddy was a turret gunner on a SB2C. We met on a furlough in our home town and based on some of the incidents that the airplane did, he predicted that the airplane was going to kill him. After the war I was told that he died when the engine on his airplane quit just as it cleated the front of the carrier deck.

Bob- Affirmative, before angled flight decks, if you crashed on take-off, the carrier ran over you.
