Should have listened to the audio instead of just watching the video. I knew why they were turning her backwards to get a charge in the cylinders, but wondered why they then turned her forwards. Now I know.
There are two at what used to be El Toro marine base in So Cal. They are so big I can remember clouds forming inside them. There was an air show or something there and I got to go inside, I was in 2nd grade. Pictures don’t do it justice as to just how big those are. My dad was stationed there in the 60’s.
As of about ten years ago there was still one of these hangars at Moffett Field, cannot say if it is still there now. Best regards, Robert
When I was at Langley Field during WW2 the dirigible hangar was still there and it was immense. No longer there.
