Thanks for posting. It is always interesting to read these type of comparisons and see how the V8's have progressed over time...

The 348 was a really great looking car. The 355 and 360 carried on the tradition of the V8s being beautiful works of art that turn heads, but the 348 has a special place for me as it was the Ferrari I wanted as a teenager. So I still plan to buy one at some point down the road.

    Am I crazy for being a 360 owner aspiring to a 348?

Heck no! I will have a 348 in addition to my 360 one day. Probably a sub $30k TS or TB example that I can tinker with..

The age-old question: classic vs. modern. Why not sell your soul and have both?

    Interesting article.

As a man who had 2 348's before trading "up" to a 360 (which I've now owned almost a decade) I'd say that whilst a 360 is light years ahead of the 348 in both performance and comfort, I really miss the rawness of the 348. The 360 is also much cheaper to maintain without having to remove the engine for belt changes etc.

Overall the 348 is much more of a drivers car and it requires so much more of the driver to get the best out of it. The 360 is almost too easy to drive fast. The 348 was much more involving somehow. Maybe I'm a masochist but I miss the raw "seat of the pants" feeling of the old car..........

My grandpa has had 2 348's, and his current one is just sitting in his garage collecting dust. I've always loved the looks, but the performance and handling are really sub-par. I've thought about buying it from him and turbocharging it, but just haven't had the time. The v8's prior to the 360 make me nervous because of the maintenance requirements. Maybe I'll have to look into the possibility again.
