Turbines with zero pitch or reverse thrust helps. The most challenging thing for me flying floats was gaging when to kill the engine on approach to a dock. Especially difficult in windy conditions and limited to a downwind approach.
I just hope they check the wing-root structure for corrosion. They need to remember the fatal Chalk's Mallard crash off of Miami Beach.
