While I was at the gym this morning I was watching the music video channel. Sammy Haggar came on with his song titled 'Can't drive 55'. In it was featured a black 308 being chased by the cops. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Great video, I remember seeing in 1984.

At 35 & 43 seconds you get a view from the rear portside quarter panel and to me the mirror is much higher than when we see Sammy in the drivers seat, no massive humps on the engine bay lid like on the 512 and to me the shape of the side window looks 308 instead of 512. Yea, and no gas filler door. Case closed.

Please say what you're trying to say in plain English. It's clearly a 512. Or are you saying that it's a 308 ... case closed?

In retrospect I'm surprised the car used wasn't a Camaro or a Corvette or something. Those vehicles were much more fitting to the genre.

I wonder where that 512 is today?

I was saying it was both a 512BB and just a couple shots of a 308, as my original title suggested.

At 35 seconds into the video and then again at 43 seconds into the video, the view is from the rear quarter panel looking forward, following so far? If you'll notice, the mirror is higher up then when you see it in the shot when Sammy says the car is running great. The lack of the gas filler door on the flying buttress suggest to me that this is not a 512BB and the shape of the rear side window looks more like a 308. Also, from that same view, the massive humps (air intakes?) on the engine lid are missing, they should have been visible had it been a 512BB.

That's just my opinion though and you know what they say about them.

Overall, the video definitely features a 512 as opposed to a 308, although I concede that it might be something other than a 512 at 35s and 43s. Hard to tell.

Yes, I agree 100% that the video is all about driving the 512BB, as a 308 owner I was just making what I thought was an interesting observation about those two 1 second shots.
