'74 246 GTS. Recently noticed puddle of coolant on garage floor. Traced leak to front of car. Removed forwardmost undertray and saw that the leak was coming from the lower hose (engine to radiator) and was right at the "T" junction where another hose takes off at a 90 degree angle. The leak was more of a heavy ooze, and was coming from the hose at the rear of the T where it almost disappears into a hole in the chassis. In fact it looks like the only thing that hasn't stopped the hose from disappearing into the chassis is the hose clamp which is very rusted and jammed into the chassis hole. I can't even get enough movement on the lower hose to pull it out enough to try a new hose clamp. There is just about an inch of hose sticking out from the hole in the chassis.

I've looked at removing the next underbody panel (middle one) but instead of bolts it appears to be held on with either small rivets or allen screws, and I don't know if removing this panel will help with the problem.

    Any help greatly appreciated

After fiddling with this hose for an hour the old clamp fell off. It had rotted through. Put on a new clamp and leak seems to have gone away. But what a pain the butt trying to work with 1/2 inch of hose and tuck the clamp into the hole in the chassis. Going to replace the other 2 clamps while I'm there because they are really rusty as well.

You need to replace the hoses ASAP.

I had a similar leak in that area. You will find that the original metal T peice will be corroding from the inside, causing pin hole leaks which are hard to detect. New T piece in stainless steel from Superformance is cheap to buy and easy to fit.

I've seen the ends have a split or a fray and prior discussions here claim the hose can still be intact, but in the case where you determine the long hoses do need replacing I've seen two superior solutions; aluminum tubes or silicon hoses
SRI sells higher quality at: http://www.scuderiarampanteinnovations.com/solutions.html

I love stainless so the "T" to the heater boxes is good advice

Scott- Where have you seen these in aluminum? That would be my first choice.

I would like to see how they fed aluminum tubes through the oval tubing. I don't see how it could be done. That would have to be a 4-5 foot straight pipe times two that you would have to insert into the oval tube.
