i just posted these pics in another thread about high oil pressure. Was in the garage trying to troubleshoot the issue. started the car to let her warm up. stepped just outside the garage for 5-10 minutes to let her idle.

here's what I came back to...any ideas of where and/or why the coolant leak?

Get a coolant system pressure test kit and don't guess.

Was any work done on the car recently? Major? Fluid chsnge?

If you pressurize the system you'll know for sure.

Are u sure it did not come out of the expansion tank over flow? If the tank is over filled it's quite common. Particularly if you let it idle for 10 minutes and if one of the cooling fans is not coming on.

thanks for all the replies! Let the troubleshooting begin!

Something else I should note is that the temp gauges seemed to be in spec right before shutting off the car. Also, the leak stopped once the engine shut off. I just checked to be certain, and there are no additional drops of coolant on the floor...

please excuse my ignorance here, but where is the expansion tank overflow located? I'm assuming I'd be able to find it when under the car looking up at the expansion tank location?

    Thanks!

Where you fill the coolant. Black tank in center of engine. The cap has a rubber hose that vents any overflow down along the driver's side of the engine and dumps it on the ground in the area where it appears you coolant might be coming from.

I'm thinking it may have been the overflow (fingers crossed).

just went and took a peak in the expansion tank...the coolant is very close to the top of the tank (less than 1 cm from the top of the tank to where the fluid starts).

Thats way too high and forsure the coolant overflowed. It should be about 3 inches from the top of the threads.

Too high in the expansion tank. Was coolant recently added?

I think the general measuring consensus is to stick your index finger into the expansion
tank until it hits bottom and it should be at your first knuckle.
