I just purchased a 2004 360 Spider and noticed the coolant needs to be topped off, reading the service manual, it refers to Shell GLYCOSHELL, I have searched for this brand and having no luck, do I really need to buy this or can I use a different brand?

    Thanks
    Giovanni

Giovanni- A really good coolant if you like sulfites is Zerex G-05, and if you prefer one without sulfites, Zerex G-48. Sulfites help prevent erosion of wet cylinder liners and that is what I use.

I think you mean nitrite, not sulfite.

Thank You Terry sounds like Zerex G-05 is the way to go, also the manual is suggesting 95-98 unleaded oct, what type of gas to you recommend, there is a place that sell NON-ethanol 93 gas that I would like to use, but scared to try it.

You need to use coolants compatible with aluminum systems. Many Euro car makers sell these (e.g. BMW).

I would just go to your local BMW store and buy coolant there.

Zerex G-05 and the BMW coolant are essentially identical.

Correct, I meant nitrites. Both G-05 and G-48 are sulphur free.
