Coolest car you can get for under $15k

Get a DeLorean, and make sure to run the crap out of it. The DeLorean scene is easily butt-hurt & will obsess about it for decades. Good times.

I went to lunch today with my buddy that owns three deloreans... we took the red one that has a turbo or supercharger..cant remember which.

Still one of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in. Those seats just cradle you.

 

Single turbo kit, or twin (unlikely if the car's been painted).

Yes, they are incredibly comfy! IMHO this was their downfall... an ideal "touring" car that looks like it should be faster than God. I think people were disappointed when they got a Caddy instead of a Ferrari.

 

Get a Lancia Fulvia. cool car regardless of cost....

 

I dont know if its single or twin...Id have to ask...doesnt feel very fast. But yes comfy comfy. I could fall asleep in those seats.

He has a mint restored low mile car thats a garage queen. A restored unmodded daily driver and this red one is sort of the beater.

Hes mad in love with them.

 

I had a Steel Mist Grey all-stock '93 MR2 Turbo that I traded up for a '95 Dark Emerald Pearl / Tan Turbo with a Greddy exhaust and H&R lowering springs. VERY subtle and tasteful mods. That car was just so damn sweet. I bought it in 2000 with 22,000 miles on it for $21,000. It took sooo long to find and it was so worth it. And where I lived at the time, that car got looks like you wouldn't believe. Also, the engine just made the coolest noises and when I wasn't listening to that, I've found that MR2's have the absolute best stock stereo I have EVER heard in a car (subwoofer under each seat). I sold it in 2004 with 41,000 miles on it on Ebay for $17,500 and got an E320. My God how I miss that car.

I'm not sure what you could get one for today, but the '94's and '95's hold their value really well. Mine was especially valuable because there were VERY few '95 Turbos imported to the US and only a handful of Dark Emerald Pearl. In fact, I've never seen another one like it. However you just might find a decent '94 with low-ish miles for under $15K. You just have to look hard for one's that haven't been beaten with the "Fast & Furious" stick.

Then again, as much as I love Deuces, you already have a 355 and given that the cars require similar conditions (Sunny days on curvy backroads), I really can't see opting for one over a Ferrari.

That's the crossfire right? There you have a future collectible maybe, low build and they were hard as hell to sell so they had to discount them huge and most likely sold them to someone who will run them into the ground.

I guess my version of fun and others version may be different. I mentioned the sebring as I had one and it was a blast. Sure it's slow but when theres a shopping cart at the mall parking lot it becomes a target not an obstacle.

of the cars on that list, the ones with the highest "cool factor" for me are the 911 targas and the pagoda roof 230SL.

 

This thread has got me seriously considering selling my current car and buying an early 80's Targa. I figure I only drive like 200km a month so why not have fun while doing it? Maintenance can't be THAT bad on these cars, can they?

See if you can find a '95 Mitsubishi VR4 Spyder. Less than 2000 made, split between the 220 hp NA version and 300 hp TT. Might be more than $15k, I haven't kept up with them.

A coupe version of the turbo would be another possibility. AWD, lots of power, plenty of room for 2, and can carry 4 in a pinch.
