While not strictly a technical question, I was wondering if I should leave my 355 parked outside after a good run as opposed to garaging it immediately. I'm worried that the lack of a good breeze might do more harm to the engine than keeping it out for a half hour then moving it into the garage.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I used to garage it immediately after a ride and lift the hood, while leaving the garage door opened. It would still get pretty hot in the garage. Now I simply leave it outside, and take it in at day's end.

I think you're a little too paranoid, unless your garage is 150 degrees or something. Cars like to be hot (within parameters); keeps condensation from rusting out your toy.

I always lift the deck lid on my 328 after a long run. My odd reasoning is that while the car is in motion the wind flow will help keep the deck lid temperature down, but after i park it at home i don't think the heat from the engine can be too good for the paint so i lift the deck lid until the engine temp has returned to a cool state. It might not do anything but it's worth a try. As far as leaving in the garage or outside. I get sufficient air flow through the garage especially if i open the side door.

If i've driven it around town for a while in the Vegas heat, I pull it into the garage so it has some shade. I leave the deck lid up, and have one of those giant Home Depot fans blowing across the engine compartment for about an hour. The garage has a/c, but it definitely gets warmer around the car when it's pulled in.

Between track sessions i do lift the rear deck open. For street driving i don't bother and just walk away.

back in school they taught us that rapid cooling\heating will hurt things more than slow temperature change over a longer time.

Yes, but the engine bay is cooler with the car moving at moderate speed than parked after running.

Probably a good reminder anyway to check the oil after 15 minutes, or whatever time the owners manual specifies.
