to blow all that hot air out through the engine lid and/or through a challenge grill..

Has anyone ever fitted a couple of fans back there to do this?
Plenty of space to fit two smallish fans.

    Good idea or non starter?

Does get hot back there in a 355 and 348

There are already fans on both the water/AC side and the Water/oil side.

I have a switch in my cat that will run the fans at low speed so the car stays at normal temperature in Texas summer heat and stop and go traffic. No On again--off again droning of the fans.

I don't know about the 355 but My 348 seems to have little trouble in getting the hot air out without any fans.

As I posted in another thread, I'm starting to suspect you could use the engine lid as a BBQ when you arrive at your destination!

I would have thought though, that if engine temps were that much of a problem then there would already be people fitting fans.

I dont have my 355 wired up like this, yet. May never as I really dont have any issues but would be nice to run a cool down cycle after you turn the car off.

What we do in a nutshell is install a shutdown timer, you can set them for 30 seconds to 60 minutes to run after you shut the car off. Hook it up to 1 or both fans and also a external water pump to circulate the coolant. We use this on very high hp street cars with turbos and has been extremely helpful stabilizing the temps and stopping turbo damage and head gasket issues.

    Tim,

Very cool (no pun intended) :)

I open my bonnet after each park in the garage. It's hard to believe how much heat the motor throws....

Does not seem to be a problem though.

Dave even if you just do the passenger side fan for 3-5 mins after shutdown it really helps. The right side is the hot side

I have a fan in my driveway I park next to, yep I open up also. I hate heat soak
