So..... I'm the guy that purchased the eBay 458 with 121xxx miles on it. Well 3 months in I love the car, it is my first super car. The others are a Roush Raptor and a 15 GTI with the APR tune. I love driving it but man I have never been so paranoid about gas stations or people trying to race you on any street or highway. Plus I live in an up coming neighborhood in Dallas TX, nice but not super nice. A lot of homes being demoed for the lot and then they build a home 3X's the price. Now I'm the "guy with the ferrari" on the street. People take pics of you all day. Good and bad I guess.
Today was a crappy day. Drove home from Austin did some hill country driving and was pulled over on the way back to Dallas, an older chevy truck was hauling butt and trying to race me I'm saying trying because I was going the speed limit. I get pulled over randomly as a trooper is getting on the highway and I am behind a big rig. My radar never went off and he said he got me well over the speed limit which is complete garbage. Then I get home and someone tried to break into the back of my home. Through a very large rock that split in half, I have commercial grade windows so no damage, they also tried to pry my sliding door open. I guess I feel like I have a big target on my back driving this car. Don't like this feeling, maybe I am overanalyzing. Do you all ever feel nervous driving around or was this just a crappy day?

Just a regular day in DFW. Now...if it was raining...then THAT would have made it a crappy day.

Sounds like u just had a bad day - In 18 years of owning F cars I have never had a bad experience (I even got pulled by the police and let of with a caution, so maybe I'm just lucky) Nearest I ever came to a potentially bad situation was when I took the wrong turn off from the freeway and ended up in the "wrong part of town" in my first Ferrari a wonderful silver 355 Berlinetta - Had to do a very rapid 360 degree turn just as I was about to be surrounded by a large group of guys who probably just wanted to see the car up close but I was not taking any chances :)

Sorry to hear about your issues. Many ppl suffer from bad ferrari ownership from time to time. But i think it has to deal with where you live in the country. In other words, you can enjoy the car substantially more in certain parts on the world than others. I understand you may be a target but if your house is = or (Slightly >) than the MSRP of your ferrari...that can be the problem. Living in a more exclusive area could solve most of these issues but it could be bad luck too (or rotten day).

Try to avoid drawing attention to yourself. Don't leave any patterns for thieves to follow.. At home, keep your car parked in the garage, always set the house alarm and try to stay off social media bout your Fcar and whereabouts. Good luck man.

Life is paradoxical. On one hand living in an upscale neighborhood might make your car one of many, and you might envy someone else (certainly not likely to do anything harmful but still "feel" a bit "behind"). On the other hand, I have always subscribed to the philosophy of if you make a million a year, buy a house in a $500,000 neighborhood. One way to feel poor is move into an area you can barely afford and watch everyone else do what they want while you struggle to keep what you have. However, your story begs the question why people "hang out" with (mostly if not exclusively) their own socio-economic group. It seems that those who feel they have less no longer aspire to obtain but try to take. I realize I am extrapolating and taking great liberties with this one example, but you help make a point. It used to be people "dreamed" of what they saw, now many, lacking internal discipline, ambition, skills, etc., see you as undeserving and them suppressed, so they feel justified in taking it. Personally, I am able and choose to live where others live (more or less) the same life style. As a result few problems. Sorry to hear your story. Best

It sounds like you've just hit a rough patch, no need to worry or stress about it.

One thing that I've noticed is for better or for worse.... When it rains, it pours.

I had a friend looking for work for months, dozens of resumes sent and not a single response, then in span of a few days plenty of offers come in. Life is like that and I can't explain why.

Agree with the others- you're just having a bad patch of luck. If you had another fancy car these things could have happened to you too. That said, yes, driving the Ferrari will make you more visible. So you will make some adjustments and find ways to enjoy the car etc.

You're driving around with a giant neon sign over your head saying "hey, look at me!" and you don't understand why people are looking at you?

    Really?

Of course it will happen. The question is can you get used to it or not.

I will say this.... it can get annoying at times.

i disagree with those comments. i'd rather live in an area where i am the poorest vs richest. I'd rather be around people i can look up to.

my building has 3 aventadors, multiple ferraris (even 1 or 2 la ferraris).

    it's motivation for me.

Great post. Thank you. I have a situation that is fairly similar and just gave me more insight of what is actually happening. It's the learning process and an important step of it.

Statistically random events (whether good or bad) are likely to happen together. So probably just a bad day.

(The way to think of it is that events evenly spread out would be extremely non random. QED)

I am mid 30's and can afford to get a house and live wherever I choose. The issue is I would rather spend my $$ on businesses so I chose to get a house in an established neighborhood in dallas which has older homes and much newer (mine) rebuilds from demoing a lot. Since my ownership I have two close friends who drank the Koolaid. One bought a california and the other got an '11 Italia. It seems silly to think about what to do with the car now that we have a mini ferrari mafia. I do appreciate your input as this type of "attention" and ownership is very new to me. I do love the car it is a dream, and the feeling I get from it definitely parallels riding my ducati but with the Texas heat, A/C is a necessity...

I've been pulled over several times in my 458 but no actual tickets. The cops will find another reason to give me a warning or a fix it ticket instead.

But cops do follow me occasionally which bothers me but it is what it is!

I knew u were "young blood" the second I read your title... haha.. That's why I posted... Been there...you will get used to the attention...

Being happy is first and foremost.. Whatever that may be... Business is # 2 because U always can make money.. End of day, if you're not happy with your neighborhood/sorrounding areas etc.. To the point u rant to random fchaters.. Maybe it's time to change the scenery..and put business as priority #2 Imo it's not worth stressing, just enjoy what hand ur given.. Complain less... enjoy more :)

And once you get there (the top elite), you'll always find someone with better cars, house, wider driveway, cleaner landscaping, better security guards, bigger pool, better view , hotter maids, sexier wife.. List goes on and on.. Then what??.. In life.. Are you the person that just settles... or reaches for something more?? Haha I know ur position.. I feel ya lol
