Too bad it's not MSR Houston, because I'd do it.

I found a video of the new 3.1 course. Special thanks to Shnitz & friend in the BMW 330 for putting this video together.

who here has run the old configuration (1.7). I'm curious as to what kind of lap times you guys run?

I race my bike out there a couple times a year, plus about 6 track days. We just raced there this past weekend, but it was on the old course, the new course (1.3) was only open for the street rider track day on Friday.

I rode it on my pit bike, and I have to say, the elevation changes look to be very daunting.....at least on a bike...

Lap times can be all over the place, depending on the car and driver. I think the sports car record had been somewhere around 1:19, though I think Lou G. was well under that when he was out practicing this winter in his C6 race car.

Thanks for the offer Rob. I'm skipping on this one but would like to venture up there in the near future.

I would love to hear the best times out there. I figure Lou G. and Bobby Archer have done some 1:17's or even lower in their World Challenge cars.

100 HP Spec Miatas running 1:25's will blow away most street cars out there.

Keiths Miata Turbo is getting close to 1:20.

My 355 Challenge has gone 1:21.8 and with fresh rubber might be good for a 1:20 something.

Fastest street cars I've heard were Mark McKenzie doing a 1:23 in his GT3 and I think Keith in his Elise were 1:22-1:23.

My best "driving" lap out there in any car was a 1:27.7 in a 100 HP 1st gen RX7. I saw God several times. :D

RX8 has only been down to 1:25.8, but I haven't run it much there, I'm typically 1-2 seconds faster a lap than top SM's.

Interesting. My experience out there is with bikes. The motorcycle track record is held by AMA Formula Extreme regular; Ty Howard.....1:15 on a GSX-R750.

Average podium finishing lap times hover in the 1:17 second range for experts and 1:22's for Novice. Funny thing is, SV650's, 600's and 1000's all run very similar lap times out there.

My personal best is a 1:25, right before I went cartwheeling out of big bend. I'm still not back up to speed, and have been running anywhere from 1:29 to 1:34.

The motorcycles have the cars everywhere except going through the corners. 4 wheels better than 2. :) MSR is one of the more technical tracks we do.

Certainly! Braking as well. Cars can run a little farther before breaking. Rattlesnake, wagon wheel and Horseshoe are three places that I imagine the cars to have a big advantage. Ricochet, Big bend, Tombstone and boothill are all bike friendly....Especially Ricochet. I can clip ricochet well into the triple digits.
