I've already found some info stating an M34 or an M34R size battery as the correct one for my 308 QV. What is the differecnce in the two numbers? Is there a best brand to consider? Mine is an old Interstate. I'm also continuing to search for a picture showing the correct terminal positions in the well. My cabling appears to be binding up a bit trying to reach the posts. If anyone has a picture of a correct battery orientation to post on line it would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
The 'R' is for reversed polarity terminals. I can't recall which is standard for the 308. I bought a new battery earlier this year and took the old battery into Autozone to insure the new one was physically identical. After all you have to dispose of the old battery anyway and they do it for you.
On my 82(usa car) the ''+'' positive terminal / cable is on the drivers side and is situated on the ''rear'' half (closest to driver) side of the battery and of course the ''-'' negative terminal / cable is on the passenger side. It apperars that it is mounted correctly although the ground strap bolted to frame is located on the drivers side.I will replace the battery this weekend with one oreinted the same. My.02
