Hey gang, I know there are some threads about battery issues etc for the 812. But I have not found one specific battery replacement size etc for the 812.
What I am searching for is the correct size or battery type for the 812. I am looking to replace the one that the Ferrari dealer puts in. They are crap and don’t last long. Thanks everyone

Does antigravity make one for this platform? They are very good people and very knowledgeable, I would give them a call.

I don't have the owners manual for the 812 but every other Ferrari manual shows the battery specification and at a guess there'll be loads more sizing capacity etc data written on the battery itself - could you not check either of these options on your car to be absolutely certain ?

    Hi

I bought this 80 Ah (812 spec) in april and changed it in about 3,5 hours.

    VARTA F21 (A6) Silver Dynamic AGM xEV 580 901 080 1 Autobatterie 80Ah
    Costs about 150 €
I don't know if you can get this in Canada, Varta is a german company.

That’s great people. I have been thinking to get my own battery. The car has some some really lazy slow starts when the car is hot. Of course with the lazy slow start, it triggers all the Christmas tree lights. So before I get stranded with a weak battery, I thought to looking into it myself rather than the dealer.

In my first year my 812 GTS battery went and of course since I hadn't driven the car >2600 miles, Ferrari wouldn't honor replacement. So, rather than buy another crappy Ferrari battery, I researched on Fchat and was recommended to but the Interstate MTX-94R/H7. I instructed the dealer to replace it with the interstate brand which by the way, does not void the warranty per my dealer, and purposely left it off the charger for one week after it was returned. I was able to start the car with no issues and 2 years now, no problem at all.

Just in case F12 owners are listening, the difference between the 812 and F12 batteries is the 812 uses the H7 80Ah battery and the F12 uses the H8 95Ah battery. Both are AGMs but the F12 is 1.5" longer (other dimensions the same) which explains why its a gigantic pain trying to angle it in before it hits at the top with the air box. This is, of course, using the method that does not involve removing the air box to install.

If I replace it with the AGM Lithium, am I correct to assume that you need to change the trickle charger to the Lithium style and along with the magnetic connection to the rear of the car?

Does anyone have the Interstate battery model used for the 812?

I dont understand the reason for not removing the airbox. It looks very easily accessible on this car along with pretty much anything like belt, plugs, hoses, etc. Very open engine bay. Try to do the plugs or belt in a cayenne v8 and its major surgery. Wouldnt you better off taking apart things to access and replace the battery easier than to try to do it without and potentially damage something? That battery is very heavy and if you have to tilt it to get it sit properly, you may drop it on something or bent something.

Good question. Two reasons. The plastic wiper tray on my F12 is bonded to the windshield trim with a black sealant. Others here are seeing the same thing. Bonding plastic to rubber and keeping it pliable and removable over the years without damaging either part is not something I care to experiment with. Without whatever this sealant is, it will not lay flush and water will get in to where it definitely should not go.

Second is damaging the felt and foam gaskets that go around the airbox. They've been on there since 2013 and, given my prior experience with such materials, will be damaged. Parts for these cars are becoming less available, if they ever were at all, and sourcing them at whatever cost is also something I don't want to experiment with.

So, I will wrestle that nasty SOB out/in like I did last time which was quite the production. I made a padded chute for the purpose using foam and duct tape. It is quite the production but I had all season to do it. The hardest parts are the 56 lbs of lead and getting the vapor drain hose attached to the bottom of the heat blanket and fed through the hole in the lower chassis cover. If you never heard of the piece - look it up on the parts diagram.

I did take a lot of photos for the install complete with step by step narrative but never got around to posting it.

So, I was away for a month in Italy. Today I took the car for a nice spirited drive and it was fabulous. I parked it in the driveway, shut it off and cleaned the car off before I put it in the garage. I went to start it, and it would not turn over. Looks like the battery is toast. So, I called Ferrari Roadside and they are going to pick it up. I am providing them with the Interstate battery you folks suggested as the OEM Ferrari battery will be replaced under warranty with the same crappy battery. Oh well....when the writing is on the wall they say. I knew it would come to this.

Car was returned to me with the new interstate battery and it seems back to normal. The car turns over much quicker when starting. I also ordered a Ctek 7002 with the magnetic adapter and will be using this rather than the Ferrari Oem. Hopefully, this will last longer

I saw the thread for F12 battery removal with pictures. I agree with you, there is risk involved. Quite a bit of a job to remove battery and if you have to do this once a year or once even every two years, its a chore.

Could it be possible to reach from under the car (raise the car on a lift) to attach the hose to that airbox tray? I dont understand how one would attach that hose properly to be honest.

My dealer says, once the battery on 812 is disconnected the rear wheel steer needs recalibration.

That is what I was told from a guy I know well. It maybe Ferrari recommended but not actually necessary or nothing will have changed if you don't move the car?
