I've seen 2 very different styles of dash vents (not foot well vents) and need to know what is correct for an M-Series Dino (Euro model...if that makes any difference for this topic).

And did they differ in style whether or not the Dino has air conditioning? I understand AC cars have 3 vents, non-AC only 2.

Something I saw at one source implied the ones with the Dino script on them were used on the dash starting with the E-Series. But I came across some threads on FChat that imply the Dino script vents were used on all 246's (L-, M-, E-Series).

This should be a good one for Matthias to chime in on or any other `experts' on model/year Dino nuances.

Whew! Even tho I prefer the look of the Dino script vents, that saves me $600 (going rate for a pair of the Dino script vents). Thanks!

The vent in the top picture resembles the Dino footwell vents. i believe that the Daytona used the Dino footwell vents for the dash. That would seem to provide much greater ventilation. A note on Dino A/C: only the center vent gives out cold air. The other two conduct ambient air. It's air-conditioning for the faint of hear, I guess! Fred

At the Black Forest event, I surveyed 22 Dino 246 GT & GTSes.

    Scrutinised:
    12 GTs & 10 GTSes
I managed to get 12 chassis numbers. The five GTSes of which I couldn't obtain their chassis numbers, would still be E-series cars (assuming there are no L & M series GTSes).

    My findings:
    - One L-series Dino had the dash vents in the first picture (w/o script)
    - One M-series Dino had the dash vents in the second picture (w/ Dino script)
    - Two M-series Dino's had the dash vents in the first picture (w/o script)
    - One E-series Dino (an early one - mine) had the dash vents in the first picture (w/o script)
    - Thirteen E-series Dino's had the dash vents in the second picture (w/ Dino script)
    - One Dino of which I couldn't establish the series, had the dash vents in the first picture (w/o script)
    - Three Dino's of which I couldn't establish the series, had the dash vents in the second picture (w/ Dino script)

Based on these observations, my guess would be the first picture shows the dash vents for the L, M and early E series, with probably that one M car being an exception (correct, Matthias?) and the second picture is for all the later E series.

I'm sure Matthias could validation/correct your observations with regards to the cutover point. One factor that also needs to be considered is that the older style (no script) cost roughly 1/2 the later style (with script). Always a possibility that someone needed to replace vents and couldn't get past the steep Dino script cost.

I should also note that the idea of seeing 22 Dino's in one place must be a dream.

German man is correct, the lower vent shown is after market. I purchased same for the side vents since all my vents were missing and I needed something to fill the void. That vent is only $7. My '71 euro has only 2 on the dash and does not have ac.
