the seats that I have are original and they do have this puffyness that you refer to. the seats in the auction do look flat and old. however, I couldn't begin to say if they are original or not.

i can't help one to determine whether the daytona seats are correct or original, however, i do believe the leather portions should "puff" out from the daytona-style straps. the straps were originally made from vinyl and the leather portion did have a certain amount of profile above the height of the vinyl strap portion. this is not only seen on the daytona, but also on the boxers, as well.

a good many cars have been re-upholstered with these style seats and the work has been done by using photo's and designs, but not necessarily a true pattern.

other than my own reference cars, i can not say that the "puffyness" goes away over time and cars reported as original could be without the puffyness, however, i don't see the leather stitching changing over time, therefore the nature of the stitch and leather protusion shouldn't either.
