one of the rods (towards the center) is for the battery hold down. the other two are for securing the battery cover. the reason the battery hold down rod appears to extend to high, is the battery cover is contoured so it creates a horizontal surface, while the liner is sloped downwards towards the front. in other words, the heighth of the battery cover is larger on the front side than the back side.

the battery cover is made of metal and has an embossed cross section to provide strength.

FYI, the battery cover on my (L series), which I presume to be OEM, is fiberglass.

When I bought my car (fall of '01), both plastic seat adjustment knobs were missing; I got a set from Dennis McCann (allferrariparts.com I believe) at that time; astronomically expensive for what they are, but welcome to the L-series world! Also, there is a right and a left knob (which are different)!

Dennis is a great source for parts, and he has stuff you just can't find elsewhere, but you sure pay a premium for the service.

No offense meant to Dennis, who I use for some stuff, but I try to shop the parts first then fall back to him if I can't find them elsewhere.

If you'd rather not shop, he's certainly the closest thing to one stop shopping for this stuff that I've found.

I know that I probably paid for a large portion of Dennis McCann's house restoration during my Dino restoration but I was OK with that because Dennis and Norma have the correct stuff and shoot straight. While you can no doubt get parts from a variety of suppliers (and I did), just be careful that you know NOS from repro and pay accordingly.

At this stage, repro may be all you can find for some things.

here are some photos from my e series dino. i am sure there are differences as the cars progressed in production and series. this is the hood area of s/n 08468. the battery cover is metal. the fiberglass covers i have seen are repro's. that is not to say that they weren't correct, but for the e series, the metal cover is definitely the correct cover.

Green aluminum wheel chock goes under the rubber strap under the spare. Not tool kit.

    can you post photo's?

i have always seen yellow or blue whel chocks. additionally, i have always heard that the toolkit was located here. based on the style of straps in my cars, the tool kits fit but the wheel chocks don't. am i missing something?
