    Will be replacing my Auxiliary water pump this weekend. Old one has Black/Brown wires going directly into the motor. New one will have a rear standard plug 2 pin Bosch plug. Going to cut the current harness and wire up the connector. For a 456gt, but should be same for 90s period wiring.

    Having a brain fart, Want to verify

    Black =power
    Brown =ground

    Why guess? Use a VOM meter set to continuity. One end goes to the engine block; check your 2 wires with the other end. The wire that makes a sound is the ground.

    As in your first photo? What wire colours are on the other side of that white plug?

    The 456M and 550 wiring diagrams show black as earth and brown/green as power.

    I can't remember if the pumps on these are like your second photo.

    As Bill says (paraphrasing), just check which wire shows continuity to chassis earth.

    First photo is my pump off the car, second is what’s been ordered and should arrive today. I’ll get back to the car later and take a look at the other half of the connector and double check continuity.
