    Hello – open letter –

    • WHAT - Looking for a virginal 1978 308 GTS

    • WHY - to take detail pictures of the blacked out paint details & paint my car correctly
o My 308 is all apart for painting now.
o Was disassembled and painted two times before.
    o Oh boy – what’s really correct?

    • WHERE – within 100 miles of Thousand Oaks, CA (Los Angeles area)

    • COLOR – Rossa Corsa would be nice but I’ll be happy with any unmolested ’78 308 GTS.

    • HOW SOON? - asap

    Thanks

    DOUG

    Doug,

    Minor point I know, but...
If your car is a '78, and as you intend to restore it to a correct original scheme, then the color can't be "Rosso Corsa".
That color was introduced with the change of paint manufacturers, from Glidden Salchi to Glasurit, in 1980.
The "standard red" for a 1978 is "Rosso Chiaro", which, despite its name ("Rosso Chiaro" means "Light Red") is actually slightly darker than "Rosso Corsa".
Another option in the catalogue was "Rosso Dino", which is more orange.
Those were "single stage" paints, not the later (about 1995) base coat + clear coat (varnish).
