My 1972 Dino has Cromodora rims with "Fiat" marked on them. See photo. A friends 1974 246 GTS has rims marked "Ferrari". Which would be correct for my Dino?

I have an original un-molested 1972 Ferrari Dino 246GT built March 72. It has Fiat on the wheels.

    Thanks Rich!
I appreciate your feedback! I believe mine is a May 1972 build date s/n 4004. Do you know which tires were original on your Dino - 205VR70 14 X or 205VR70 14 XWX? Both have same tread design. My spare rim has a 205VR70 14 X - neither have been used so I assume the 14 X was the original tire on my Dino.

would be interesting to know when switch over in casting. and why keep changing it. fiat won a design award in 1966 for that wheel. i have seen fiat in two different size fonts, dino and ferrari castings. fiat dinos always had fiat wheels but 246 had fiat , dino and i guess ferrari. 308gt4 had dino and ferrari. have only seen big font fiat on 246 but have seen big and little font fiat on fiat dino. i one set of big font and one set of little font.

I will have to check the tires tomorrow. I bought the Dino on Sunday (saw it for 2 hours) and will be picking it up tomorrow. #03510 March 1972 246GT

If memory serves me correctly, the original tires on 246s were mostly 205/70x14 Michelin XVRs, which were years later superseded by Michelin XWXs- the XWXs look the same, and eveyone uses them as "original" replacements on Ferraris of that era, but in fact the originals were XVRs. Some later 246s came from the factory with Goodyear G800 Grand Prix model tires instead, by the way.

Could your "XVR" actually be a 205/70VR 14 "X"? If that's the case, I'd feel pretty safe in concluding that the 205/70VR 14 X was the Factory tire for earlier 246 Dinos.

s/n 3510 is the car that was on ebay last week. located in vegas, it is dark grey with a white interior. in my opinion, it looks beautiful in that color. it is a two owner (well 3, now i guess) car, that is very original.

03510 March 1972 Dino 246GT has Michelin 205/70-VR-14 X tire for the spare.
Brought my Dino home from the previous owner of 32 years. 1st owner owned for 6 months.

It has been driven 400 miles in the past 5 years, 6,000 miles in the past 20 years. I will need to service everything to ensure it is roadworthy.

    Photos attached.

Yes, those are Michelin "XVR" model tires as fitted to most 246s and which, as I said, were later supreseded by the "XWX".
