I'd take the Corvette. The performance is more important to me. I have a modified R for speed and class.

Have you seen the Aston in person?, I like corvettes but there are no words to describe the V8 Aston that car is drop dead gorgeous if I was going to part with the 355 it would be for an AM. Regards, Vern

Seriously, anyone who voted for the Vette has not seen the Vantage in person.

The attention to detail on the Vantage headlights ALONE gets the win.

Everybody and there brother has a Vette. It's a nice car. It's EXTREMELY fast. I know that isn't all I'm looking for in a car though. I want a work of art. I don't want a molded peice of plastic.

    THE Vette.

The AMV8 is for Feng Shui consultants and men who operate metrosexual stores.

Aston. It may not have the performance of the Z06 or even the base C6 Corvette, but it's such an attractive total package. Sex on wheels looks, gorgeous interior, beautiful engine music.

If price wasnt a deciding factor and you test drove both of these, the only possible reason you would choose a Z06 over an AMV8 is because it's quite a bit faster. For the real world the differences in performance of these two cars would probably never even be realized without braking quite a few laws however. The AMV8 isnt quite as fast but it's in a whole other league as far as quality goes. I think you really get what you pay for with the AMV8.

I am neither of the above and not only WOULD I choose the Aston over the Vette (or the 997 Turbo), I did. It is a spectacular car, and the overall balance of the car in terms of performance, handling, beauty, and useability is fantastic. I love mine. Just to put in in perspective, I've had around 200 cars, mostly exotics, and the Vantage is a really special machine even in that broad context. IF you just want fast and cheap, buy a Caterham, because it is not a soft luxo-barge like the Vette (0-60 in 3.1, and check out the slalom speed on the R&T list- makes a Z06 look like an old Rambler). The Caterham did the slalom at 79.8 mph (my car), the Z06 vette at 67.1 mph. Do you have any idea how slow it feels to do it at 67 after doing it at 80??? If you want a car to use every day, buy the Vantage; if you want a track monster, buy a Caterham. If you want to pose at the Dairy Queen for the teenyboppers, buy the Vette, but a Fiero with fako Ferrari panels will work just as well.

+1. I parked next to a Vantage a week or so ago (in the 328). There is no current production car that looks so easily worth its MSRP. It's on another planet compared to a Corvette.

OK Mr. Hairychest. I'll bet a Feng Shui consultant could drink you under a (licensed Naguchi) table. ;)

Seen them both...love them both, but i would have to go Z06...the new C6Z in blue on tan is just great....easy to drive, and you dont have to worry about it when you park it. The interior is a step up to where it was....and for the money, a better blast to drive.

How many of your cousins did you have to marry to come up with that answer? I'm sure that the Z06 would be the best way to woo your future wife at your next family gathering, but for the rest of us looking to date women outside of our immediate family, the Aston is the way to go.

I picked the AM V8 Vantage. The lines are better, the interior has better quality than the Corvette(less plastics, more leather), and it stands out more. Sure it does not have some of the same numbers as the Vette, but numbers aren't everything, quality of the materials used, looks, and exclusivity should be a factor.

The Vette all the way for me. Have seen, touched, driven the AM..but it just does not have the power or performance abilites the Vette has. If your after performance and not looking to be a poser in a jacked up Ford platform sharing experiment, the Vette is the car.

If your like most on this board who speak out of both sides of their mouths..then the AM is for you.

It's already been said, but while I like the Z06 and I'm sure it's a monster, the AMV8 is much better looking and a little more GT - for me right now the AMV8 would have more than enough street performance.

I traded in my 2005 Corvette convertible (not Z06) on a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. It's speed yellow -- a very rare color for AMs. The Corvette was a terrific all-around car, especally for the price. Performance was very good. But Corvettes are everywhere; the AM is much more exclusive. Frankly, the AM doesn't have the power of the Vette, but it's very quick and it looks incredible. I tinkered with the exhaust and now it sounds AMAZING. I'm very happy with it...but I'm always itching for something new. One possibility is the new AM Vantage convertible, but they won't be available until the fall. Looks terrific!

The Aston Martin is hand made. The fit and finish is exquisite. The Vette is made of plastic and will creak and rattle after just a few months. I suppose that the Vette will eat the Aston for lunch on the track as well. James Bond drives an Aston Martin. Although the AM drops like a rock on the market, it will never drop below $10K in current dollars. The Vette will. Ask yourself if you would take a ten year-old Vette to a car show. There isn't an AM that I wouldn't take to a car show. The exclusivity and snob appeal alone give the nod to the AM.

Since Aston has had success with the Vanquish and DB9 styling everyone has jumped on the bandwagon of every new or redesigned Aston being the greatest looking car ever. I have seen a couple V8 Vantage in differant colors, also had the pleasure of riding in one, and I'm sorry to say, its not that good looking of a car compared to the DB9 or Vanquish. It sounds good, but (IMO) doesnt have the power to back it up, its not slow its just doesnt feel that fast either.

I'm amazed to see how many can't believe someone would choose the Corvette over the Aston. It's true; no one thinks like you do.

With an annual production aimed at 3,000 AMV8's per year, don't be hasty to jump on the rare car bandwagon.

If I wanted a modified AJ34 engine, I'd take the AJ34S and transplant a twin screw instead of the Eaton. After all, both engines are modified heavily off the N/A version so it should be an even match, sort of. At least you can fall back on the Aston's looks.

Opinions are like, well, everyone has one. IMO, the Vanquish is awkward looking, like a bodybuilder on the juice -- muscular, yes, but kind of misshapen.

I do think the V8 Vantage looks a lot better than the Vanquish. The DB9 is a closer call, although I'd still give the nod to the Vantage - it looks more taut and athletic.

I agree the V8 Vantage isn't a rarity compared to, for example, a pre-90's Ferrari, but compared to a Corvette it is exceedingly rare.

One of the Corvette's problems is precisely GM's willingness to crank out tens of thousands of them, using mass-production-quality interiors, and performance figures on par with real exotic cars. Rather than making the Corvette more exotic by making it very fast, they've made performance less exotic by giving it to every secretary/hairdresser.

The reason a lot of us bought Ferraris -- or Jaguars -- is that we're tired of driving the same thing everyone else has. GM keeps up'ing the Corvette's performance, but what the car lacks is prestige and an upmarket feel. The guy looking at the Aston Martin probably doesn't have a Corvette anywhere on the final list of cars to consider.
