Has any changed the color of an interior for a 328? Carpets, door panels, and seats.

If so, what would be the cost by an interior shop?

    Thanks.

For good work by an established shop, no less than $10,000.

It probably depends on where you live. I had mine replaced for around $7500. That included new carpets, all new leather and replacing the fabric on the targa top.

Some people obviously like to overpay.

This was ~$3000 (Plus the cost of new DMC seatbelts and door/roof weather strip and polishing the door sill plates), for all new leather from the CA outfit (name escapes me at the moment), new carpet sewn by the installer and new vinyl on the headliner and B pillars and the shelf behind the seats and the A pillars, and a new targa top cover was made, and a new luggage compartment zippered cover was also made, only the dash and center console and underside of the targa top wasn't done.

Shop around, ask around find out who the street rod people use, and stay away from the high $$ people,as you often just pay way to much because of a name.

edit, he did forget to plug the antenna cable to radio back in, that is what is on the floor, I fixed that myself

    Good day All,

Another variable to consider is the leather quality... I viewed 3-4 different hide qualities/styles before I selected the one that I did... and in my case (512BB) I did pretty much everything (about 15 different pieces) except the seats (they were excellent) and the shop went through 2 full hides which cost about $800 or so a hide.

Doug... Whoever did the work, it looks pretty good from the pics and I would say you got an excellent deal. There is a lot of hours involved in doing all this... not too mention the material cost as well.

    Cheers,

    Sam

If your thinking of sending it out, check out Bradon.
I did lots of homework, checked out lots of shops. Checked out redye.
Bradan did the custom interior on mine - Seats, carpet, doorpanels, center console.
A very nice job. under $5K a couple years ago. I believe his Aunt tailors the leather and she did a really is a phenomenal job.

10k is way too much. Yes it is labor intensive, but I suppose a two-seat interior should normally be done in about a day if you have the right tooling.
Even if materials would cost 2k, I would love to have a customer paying me 8k for a days' work. I would not mind working two days on it for that kind of cash either :D.

Seat covers, and door panels leather was from GAHH in, CA, Wilton wool would have added about $400 to the bill, if it would have been available, I was disappointed it wasn't.

GAHH invoiced me at about 70% of the retail price, FWIW, for the leather kit.

Again I may repeat myself but since you are in California I would try Vic at Vic upholstery(topsonline.com) I was very happy with the two pair of seat he did for me for a very reasonable price. Give him a call or stop by his shop.

I think the original poster was only interested in one interior, not three.

    10k, thats funny.

    I've seen a $3000 interior up close...it's not pretty.

If you want it as original you have to pay. I don't care what anyone says...you can't do an interior in these cars in a day. It is a lot of work.

People that do good work cost money. People who use correct quality material cost money. People who can sew straight cost money...You get what you pay for.

If you want the wrong leather, the wrong stitching and the wrong carpet then by all means spend $3000.

Should I take better close up pics and post them?? :)

You just have to know who is doing your work. Or maybe GAHH makes crap and I don't know what i am missing??? Or did you overpay for your interior, also? :)

FWIW, the $7K paint job on my '61 Corvette is far better than $15K paint jobs other people have had done on their cars, you just have to do research.

I didn't overpay for mine because I haven't done it yet! The previous owner made a mess of it. Do it right once and you end up only paying once. Over time I have replaced the dash, center console, door panels and carpet that were all brand new when I bought the car!

You can also ask Fave. He can explain what a $3000 interior gets you...He'll end up paying twice too...

If your happy with yours that's great, that's all that matters. I'm glad they could sew straight :). But to suggest that you can get an interior for $3000 on these cars is not realistic.

Look at Tillman's above. Look at what Sam said...two hides are $1600 and they didn't even cover the seats! So how many hides do you need to add the seats? Do the math...

I meant $10000 for the entire interior. Dash, console, the works. On my night table I have samples from the established interior companies. They are gaw, reoriginals, and world. Seat covers are between $2000 and 3500$ plus around $1000 for the Wilton carpet. You might find someone who works on jags that can do the job for less but if you go to a proven specialist it will cost you. I can't live with incorrect stitching or lines that are not straight. We all talk about high standards but I find that many of the "locals" think we Ferrari guys are full of crap! They could care less about the right leather grain or the hard plastic inserts in early 308 seats.

Look at the work that Newman does.....it is uncommon and it costs money!!!!!

Jay, you are wasting your time. $3000 interiors are for the high fives $30,000 308's

In Southern California, hotrods and lowriders are king. Both produce some of the world's most talented interior trim guys that are as picky as any Ferrari guy. I know my way around that scene and Im telling you they can do any stitch pattern, material quality, or run a mile of seams as straight as an arrow. A two seat anything isnt 10k. Sorry.

You've completely discounted how many hides it takes for this "two seater" car. The material alone is at least $3000.

    High Fives all around

You'll find out when your 360 needs a dash, door panels and seats...
