Sorry for the post but I just wanted an opinion from the source. I am considering buying a 2000 360. I just would like to know the average maintance cost per year. I plan to drive it on the weekends mostly and mabye put on 3-4 k miles per year.

I know most people say if you can't afford the maintance then dont buy it. But, I just want to know what I am getting myself into.

    TIA

Well you will have to factor in several factors. Was the major service done? Oil Changes? Gas prices (LEAST WORRY)? Problems with the car that arrise, etc.

If your car had NOTHING go wrong with it, it would be fairly cheap but that hardly ever happens.

In addition to what Viper stated, I would think your major cost would be depreciation.

I am assuming there is no warranty on the car. If something is wrong with it(or goes wrong) this could run some $$$ if not detected. The factory warranty is about $7K by the time they make you do the belts. Exoticcarwarranty.com is a better deal at just over $3K for a year, $100 deductible. They're offering 10% off to us. Have the seller throw it in ;)

These cars are rather inexpensive to run if you're under warranty. You're only looking at changing fluids basically. I've done oil and brakes and that's it in under a year. My warranty runs out tomorrow :( So I think I'll keep my fingers crossed from here on in.

I can't tell where you live but by your screen name may be in UK? The car is reasonably inexpensive to maintain if you drive under 4k per year. Your maintenance will not be milage based but time interval based since you will not accumulate the milage. So, oil change once a year, other fluids once every two years (brake, tranny, coolant), spark plugs and belts once every three years. Clutch, tires and brakes depend on your driving style, normally, you should expect about 15K for clutch (manual, F1 is less), brakes and tires if you are easy on the car and Rotors every two brake pad replacements. I have not had to replace the battery yet, but it probably coming up soon (I own a 2000 Modena). There is a post by a 360CS owner on Fchat who got about 21 miles/g gas milage on long distance driving but when I drive I only get about 9 - 10 m/g. Then there are the cost of insurance and traffic tickets. You have to realize that 360M is really a street legal race car and performance cars do cost to maintain. Oh, what is a 360M w/o an aftermarket exhaust... Good luck!

I've talked to Martin at International Motorsports in Huntington Beach, CA and he is a factory trained Ferrari mechanic/tech. He seems committed to keeping the cost of ownership down to a reasonable level. For instance, I asked him how much he charges for changing the clutch on a 360 and the price was around $2000. I had always heard that it cost about $15000. You might want to check with him to verify this. He's very knowledgeable and friendly to boot!

$2k seems a reasonable deal assuming he replaces with Ferrari parts, ...just the clutch/pressure plate are about $1500. He could resurface your pressure plate, and save about $400, just make sure you know exatly what you are getting.

At my 10k mile service, I also had to get a complete gasket change due to an oil leak that occurred a month or so after my warranty expired. The total ran $6,500, including the 10 k service. I have owned the car for a year and put about 4k miles on it and aside from the gasket change (the gaskets were nothing compared to the labor) the car has been pretty good. The miles you intend to put on the car will factor in to your insurance as well--the more you drive it, more likely you will have an accident.

I am not sure what the 10k service is, you probably got the 30K service or 3 year which is a major service interval. It should cost about $4,500. It includes all fluids, spark plugs, belts, all filters and check the entire car including torquing down the suspension. The gascket R&R probably costed $2k.

Im curious can anyone tell me where is the break-even point for spending the money on a 360 as opposed to buying a less expensive 355?
