Has anyone on the forum had and driven a 599 for a couple years or more? I'm curious as to what would be considered normal maintenance costs and also what a complete brake job would cost. I had a gent tell me that it's something like 15K for service and 40K for brakes. I've owned several Ferraris and realize that they aren't cheap, but those numbers stunned me.

Since more or less all of the 599's are still covered by warranty you will not see that many high repairs yet.

I had my first 599 for 2 years - did the 1 year service on it, which was about $1000 give or take a bit (can't look it up from here - think it was less even). The $15k for a service is downright silly. I don't expect a carbon brake replacement to be cheap, but I doubt its in the $40k range.

I had no other expenses on the 599 since it was under warranty. My second 599 hasn't reached first service yet.

I have had mine for a couple of years.
Around $800 for the first service and new tires at 6,000 miles were around $1,400 all in.

A couple of warranty niggles fixed for free - TFT replaced when the temp sensor would not go beyond 88 F. In Phoenix that's a cool fall day.
Also a new brake sensor to fix a check engine warning light. Otherwise it gets driven a lot, in normal urban/suburban use. It's cheaper to run at this point than my big sedan (S65) with similar mileage and use.

The BS that floats around re $15K service costs is drivel put out there by uninformed non-owners.

This car is every bit as usable and maintainable as any other + $100K sedan or coupe.

Agree with the others so far. My biggest cost to date has been tires. This car is about as livable as a BMW M6 with a little extra attention you would get because its a Ferrari.

Tires at 6,000 miles? Is this usual? Best

I just have 5,000 miles service done at the Ferrari dealer on my 2007 599, service cost to me was $2,400. Is this in line with normal warranty scheduled checkups ?

The rear tires have a tread wear rating of 60, which indicates they will wear quite rapidly if driven with some brio.
I like to drive my cars as hard as the conditions allow so I was not surprised to get only 6,000 miles out of them. I suppose they could have been nursed for a while more but I believe that tires and brakes are the essential items that should always be in optimum condition. Your life literally depends on them doing their job.

I daresay you may have been taken. If you post an itemized billing we might have a better opportunity to opine one way or the other. I bet there are some non-standard 5,000 mile items on your bill.

Ceramic brakes are about $10K CAD a corner per rotor. Same as a CGT, GT2 and F430.......

I drive both my supercharged C6Z and 430 hard. I have 10,000+ miles on the Vette and will be in need of tires soon. I am driving the 430 less, primarily because it sits at another house I visit less often, but at 4,000 miles has little wear. I was just surprised, given the tire life of the C6Z that a 599 had that soft a compound or could use tires so quickly, just never thought about it. Thanks. Best

Unless you track the car you are extremely unlikely to ever need new rotors. 599 really is not a track car, and you could kill rotors with it if tracking simply because a) its stinking fast b) heavy and difficult to slow down, and c) needs to be slowed down to get round the corners more than a 430.

Do the FDE and tremblant and you get to drive the Scud and the 599 on track and you'll see the difference. FWIW ferrari road car rotors are circa 25K, challenge car rotors are 8K front and 6K rear, so I'm sure one can ask for a discount or buy them more cheaply from ricambi, or even now try and buy the ZR1 brakes which I would imagine to be somewhat cheaper!
