Who: Invited Guest What: Drivers Ed / Track Day /Weekend at COTA When: TBD Where: Circuit of the America's ATX Cost: TBD Etc: Feeler with absolulty NO expecations at all... BUT, I wanted to at least ask , see the interest... Poll is open and has multiple questions to be answers What would you be willing to pay, assume the highest possible per day price in the beginning, and would you want a single day or two day weekend? Maybe even different pricing levels depending on what price you pay? $250.00 gets you 2 sessions $500.00 4 sessions $750 5 sessions $1000.00 entire weekend, food, special event Saturday night, etc... Thoughts? S p.s. I know it's really too early, but it can't hurt to ask, right?
When FoH does this kind of thing at TWS (College Station, Tx.) it costs the participant $250 for both days, 4 lapping sessions of 20 minutes each per day, instructors are available (for free), Ferrari mechanics are available, and sometimes lunch is catered. When I sign up for an Open Track Day at TWS, it cost $125 per afternoon, I can get as much as 4 hours of track time in unlimited unscheduled sessions, instructors are occasionally available, do your own maintanence. Here one could run an entire tank of gas in one session (77 minutes in a F355.)
PCA is at $325 for non-members, with appropriate instruction based on your run group (ie. mandatory for green and blue). I'm personally excited at the prospect of having CotA available for DEs and open track days, since it's a lot closer to me (~10 mins) than College Station!
Hertz rents some models that are track worthy.... maybe we could all rent Fiat 500's and make a challenge race out of it... LoL S
I'm interested in all proposed packages if we can bring any old logbooked track whore. But the lemons_and_chump_provenanced fairmont station wagon might not be exactly what you had in mind... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd be interested in pretty much any opportunity to drive on COTA as long as it's more than parade laps.
I hope that they do use the track for more Grass Roots events like club racing and DE, but I don't think the market will bear big costs. After all, I can go to tracks with real history like Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca, and Road America for $250 per day range. I know the investment was huge, but hopefully they take a longer term view of recovery. Also, I worry that a pro race track is more dangerous. Remember pro venues need close grandstands and that usually means close walls and guardrails. All fun and games until you drop a wheel. For example I won't drive Texas Motor Speedway unless I am in a race car with a cage
I googled COTA track day and this thread was the top result, I should always trust in FerrariChat. I'm interested in a day on the circuit, would prefer to keep it under $300.
I just signed up for Cadillac's V-series track day event at COTA in December. So it appears COTA is open for this type of business almost immediately after the F1 race.
+1. I'm sure most of us who be thrilled at driving it and getting a picture of our "race car" on the track BUT how much would you push the car knowing the track is technical and not very forgiving!
Setting aside for a moment that COTA is not TWS, the FoH T&T days are not an apples-to-apples comparison, since those events are subsidized. FoH is part owner of TWS. Also, the weekday rate is lower than the weekend rate at TWS. The OTDs (which are weekdays, with 1 exception) are also subsidized by TWS.
