COTA vs Montreal?

I don't think Montreal's really in trouble. Australia, on the other hand? It just isn't making money.

for what's already been mentioned, the city, the enthusiasm, the other attractions.

I would add the history and the track itself. One of the classic tracks these days, so many nice spots to watch from. It has been spared the wrath of tilke. How many tracks still exist the way they were at the height of the Turbo's?

BTW there was no race in 87, due to sponsor battle.

Australia has been getting cancelled for many years though. Still a sell out though (and one of my favourite GP's to watch, rarely a dull one!).

 

Unfortunately, even our own press is concerned with Montreal's viability after 2014.
