White with black wheels and mirror tint, and an F355 front clip?

Gonna be very few people that would want a white F-car of any kind, let alone with those "extras".

    ymmv.

Can be returned back original for a couple of grand 3 -4 so if it doesn't need a major service and you add in 5K for red paint you still could be under 40K since it is at 30K right now or keep it white and do the major and you are still under 40K

My big concern is why did he put on a 355 front clip? Sure, it could be aesthetics, but if that 348 clip cannot be accounted for, I would suspect a front-end hit as the motivating factor.

Red is just a little too common......I'm happy with white!

No bashing of your color was intended, I assure you. In fact I agree with you that, while red is the "signature" Ferrari color, it is too common.

I have seen one 348 spider for sale recently in Gun Metal Grey, and it tempts me greatly.

Maybe not. I'd leave it white, put back the original clip, and the original finish on the wheels.

$33,433 with 3 hours to go. Looks like it will end up around $35k. I think its a deal for that particular car.

Looks cool, but I would have done the whole mod including side and rear. Or none at all.

    Agreed.

Actually I would have just left it the same, and bought a 355 trany and hand it installed. That would have been a better 'waste' of a couple k. :)

That's how Fate punishes those Sellers who don't bother deleting bids from Zeros.

The Zero feedback bidders gleefully bid up prices, knowing full well that they aren't going to actually shell out the cash for the car. Legitimate Buyers, on the other hand, actually have to COMPETE with those sorts of nobodies...if the Seller doesn't act in good faith by deleting the bids of such people.

So when the Zeros actually "win," it's only fitting justice...since the Seller wasted the Buyers' time, now the Zero will pay back the Seller.

I actually have been speaking to the seller. He is legit. I am not sure if this "buyer" is though, and he isn't either as the "buyer" hadn't contacted him yet and it had been 5 hours since he "won" the auction. Just based on the bid history I watched/saw, I think the "winner" is a deadbeat.

He actually tried to remove the item from Ebay but Ebay would not let him as he was within 12 hours. That's what it told him at least. The car is NICE. In mint condition. Its only issue is that it is white. VERY limited history. In fact NONE until this current owner had it. He has his receipts.

I am looking to possibly buy the car if the price is right. I am in discussion and pending the other guy who "won" the car, I may get it.

I personally like the car. I am NOT a white car fan, but the wheels make the car for me. Not too shabby. I could always get a repaint. Don't care about resale value if I am not selling it right?? ;-)

We'll see what happens, but I will let you guys know.

Sounds good. If you end up buying it, be cautious. Lots of scams as you must well know on Ebay. I got ripped off for about $5k on a watch last year. The car seems like a real good deal to me though. If it could be had for $35k how could you go wrong? That seems to be about $10-$15k below the average. You could do alot of mods / repair / maintenance work for that kind of money. Good luck. I have read alot of your posts about 348 deals around the country and I think you see the 348 market much the same way as I do.

Seller is a chiropractor (hence the "Quack license plate) who JUST bought a Lambo (Gallardo I believe) from a company in Missouri (not Daniel Schmidt!!). Anyway, he was also talking to Lambo of Chicago before that to see what they had. He comes with references.

He paid 50K for the car last year and has only owned it for a year. Did a BUNCH of mods to it and some engine work (all preventative). Sounds pretty legit to me. Also has had Lotus' and Porsches. I could tell he is legit by some of the things he was saying. Everything added up and there was not ONE red flag. Not to mention, I called him and also called him at work.

He is legit. I think the car could be had for 40K but NO lower. It would still be a pretty darn good deal at 40 IMO.

I guess I am looking at 84 and 85 308s pretty hard. Would also take a nice 328. If I went with a 348, it would HAVE to be a steal of a price. But, mark my words, I'll have one by July 1st!! ;-)

Notice that the car didn't get a license tag in 2000, 2001, 2002, or 2003. That's a flag. It could be legit (i.e. a dealer using it as a personal car), of course, but it could also be telling you that the car wasn't maintained (at best) during that time. Cars without insurance that get wrecked, for instance, can easily take years before someone comes up with the money for repairs...and while the car isn't drivable, those sorts of people won't pay for the annual car tag.

Also note that the car *didn't* sell at auction last month. Why? You need to know if you are going to buy it when the dealers wouldn't.

He had said that he had bought it from an auction (or that it CAME from one in Pennsylvania). That would make sense right??

    Hmmmmm.

So you're saying it was AT an auction and did not sell on 4/27?? Hmmmm.

That car *was* at an auction, per autocheck. I simply presumed that it didn't sell since you said the guy had the car for a year. If the guy was lying and did buy it at the auction, then he's only had it since 4/27.
