You guys are amazing....before I buy my 348 I'm giving you all the VIN and see what you can tell me about it before I buy it! You guys should have your own TV show: Ferrari Detectives!

No magic to the guessing. It just seems like every time there is a car that would be good deal on Ebay, the sale never completes and the car is relisted over and over. I think you can find better (real) deals from the references on this site.

Somehow there is something strange going on in the 348 world: We had "Ferraris on Oakstreet" over the weekend and about 100 cars showed up. Yet not one 348. Are they becoming extinct because they are unwanted or because they are too faulty?

I still love them and think one would be okay buying a later model like a spider. Yet they have become a very rare sight. 308, 328, 355 and 360 in abundance btw.

There were just 1090 of the 348 Spiders ever made, and I'd guess that only half of those made it to the U.S.

There were only 100 of the 348 SS's ever made. The 348 Challenge series is fairly rare, too.

    There were 2895 348 TB's made.

    There were 4230 348 TS's made.

I hear you, but just for comparison: We had 3 Daytonas, 2 BBis and 2 Enzos, all cars there were even less numbers produced.

And it is a bit like a trend: Even thinking back we never had that many 348 to begin with. 2 at the most, then one, now none.

The 348 TB's, Challenge, and SS's are popular track cars...they probably wouldn't be expected to attend a street event.

That leaves the TS's and Spiders for most civilian appearances, and many of those cars are garage queens with owners that brag about how few miles they've got on 'em.

In addition, what I saw via carfax and autocheck when I was shopping for my 348 Spider was that a lot of the 348's had no license tag...i.e. owners who were avoiding paying state sales taxes, title, and license tag fees.

Those guys aren't going to be doing a lot of driving in public.

348 speciales are more rare than most people think. Even though the factory planned to produce 100 of them (and a special plate on the car says " #____ of 100"), only 80 were actually manfactured.

In terms of popularity and desirablity, I bought a 1994 348 Spider with 13,600 miles on it in the beginning of March this year. It is very fun, very reliable, and I am happy to say I've already put 2,100 miles on it. They may not be popular, but they do run well and they are rare -- there are actually more F40s in the world than 348 Spiders... (about 1300 vs about 1100)

It seems to be true that you hardly ever see the 348 in public. I have had mine for about 3 months and have been to three events (although one was a small gathering at my house). The other events seem to have mostly 355's and 360's. I was the only 348 at any of the events. Although I am sure there are more around, I feel like I have a special car (A 348 that is allowed out of the house). Maybe if they stay out of sight for a long time I can make up some more impressive numbers for rarity and history for people who don't know any better. HA!

Other thread show some questions about ECU's etc but he has had the car since last year. I just looked quickly but anyone serious about the car can read 'em all.

    Cheers
