They are kit cars. Tube chassis, maybe/maybe not Italian suspension, maybe a Q'Porte V8 (more often a 350 Chevy). Original body was aluminum, most are 'glass. Wheels are Dayton wires... All in all, not very much 'Maserati" involved.

Steve Harris Imports has one. It's called a Barchetta 3500. Go to www.ferrarisales.com and look under "other used". Beautifully finished piece of work, if thoroughly inauthentic. In many ways better than a Cobra Replica,as they're aren't exactly rare.

They have about 10 pics of it there.

And a rather poor reproduction of one. Here is what a REAL Maserati A6G CS looks like from this year's Le Belle Macchine d'Italia.

horrible repro, especially because at first glance you see the fenderlines and say, "could it be?" and then "damn. . . "

It looks more like someone ripped off a AC Cobra kit pattern and made mods to it.

Thanks for all the help guys! The wheels gave it away immediately as a replica, but it was allowed to display at Tutto Italiano. I knew a post here at F Chat would set the facts straight.
