I love Formula 1 but I am not up on the rules and politics of F1.....just that they change every year! Why is Hamilton and Rosberg constantly 1&2? is it the driver, car, rules suit their team, or all of the above. Ferrari had Alonso and couldn't make it happen so I am thinking that it's not the driver. Thanks Fellas!
Mercedes built an engine that is simply heads and shoulders above what the other teams produced. {Speculaton:: Last year, Merc may have had a up to 100 HP advantage, this year its down into the 35-50 HP advantage range.} Mercedes has produced a chassis that has lots of grip, is pretty slippery through the air, and is simultaneously easy on tires. The Drivers are 2 of the top 4 drivers available today.
You should probably being asking Ross Brawn and Charlie Whiting about that one. Such a wonderful and productive friendship.
Is that your excuse? How many years did Honda have to prefect their engine? They have huge racing experience with turbo engines. They knew what worked and what didn't by observing other manufacturers. Who knows how much Mercedes info leaked through McLaren? What is the end result? Honda can barely finish a race with a detuned engine. Redbull and Ferrari were dumping everything into their 2012/2013 V8 fight while Mercedes put their resources into the new formula. Whose fault is that? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Redbull and Ferrari thought they can dump a huge amount of resources into 2012-2013 championships and then arrive into the radically new 2014 formula with a dominant package. How exactly would that work? At least Ferrari put their head down and got on with the job while Redbull/Renault just started crying foul.
And anybody remembers this now? Mercedes and Pirelli facing tribunal over rogue tyre-testing session before Spanish Grand Prix - Telegraph
I'm well aware of the senile crap stirring. You still haven't explained what happened to Honda. How about Renault that actually pushed and threatened to quit if these new rules did not come into effect? Then they turned around and started crying when somebody did a better job. All of this would make a lot more sense if it were Mercedes that pushed for these changes and threatened to quit. If it was all exactly they way you and Bernie are imagining it we would have heard it from other teams. Did you hear Ferrari complaining?
Yes. It's the same "test" that they got punished for. Anything else you can dig up to relieve your sour grapes?
So.....getting back to my original topic/question. MB is winning everything because they have the best engine, great drivers, and a great chassis. But mainly bc of a better engine....is this correct?
It's called "the package" in F1. Good car + good lump + good jockeys = Wins. [Generally.] Their "power unit", as it's now called, is obviously the class of the field. Some of their customer teams are reaping rewards as a result. Good for them! Cheers, Ian
MB had the best in f1 working for them before Ross sold out to them . The only team with a bigger budget was ferrari and it was run by a clown hack lawyer not a engineer, designer, just a egomaniac PR guy running around saying the team sucks Fred and kimi are great and I'm running this show you got that . Now ferrari is .5 off is less than 8 months. Let's see in three more where we are at . No Ross and Michael around to lead the team
It's just BS. It's already two years, and from practice 1 till the flag falls on Sunday, it's always a Merc 1-2.
what about bigger budget? more money put into it out spend other teams hire more people work on the car, is this a possibility?
Btw, I think Vettel could have challenged today. Are we going to blame Mercedes for Ferrari's technical problems in qualy, Vettel ignoring or not seeing 5-6 red flags, slow pit stop, Kimi's spin?
As much as I would like not to believe it, Ferrari is in a rebuilding phase with management, engineering, technicians and drivers still trying to piece it all together. Like any other sport teams rebuilding, it will take time. But I'm optimistic the prancing horse will rebound and be back in winning form.
So would it be fair/reasonable to say that if Kimmi and Vettal jumped in to Hamilton and Rosberg's seats, them MB would still win?
A much better question is why McLaren is dead last. It's not like they didn't have time to develop the engine and car. They took 2 years. Alonso upset by 'amateur' display I can understand being mid pack. Dead last and unreliable seems unacceptable to what has to be considered one of the best technical teams ever.
